Hyundai Kona 2024.

Hyundai is preparing to launch a new generation Kona crossover on the market.

The novelty is scheduled to debut in 2023, but now its camouflaged prototypes have gone on tests.

According to pictures, which leaked to the network of spies, crossover second generation will receive a thin LED strip, as in the Hyundai Staria.

Also, the model has changed the shape of the grille, adding triangular elements on the sides, and redesigned the front bumper.

The headlights are now more angular and the taillights look larger.

It is known that the crossover’s interior will also be redesigned.

According to insiders, it will largely repeat Ioniq 5.

Its equipment will include a new steering wheel and a large screen, which will combine digital dashboard and multimedia system.

Hyundai Kona 2024 will be available with a hybrid power plant based on a 1.6-liter engine, producing 139 hp and 264 Nm of torque.

Also, fans of the brand will be offered an all-electric version of the model with the prefix EV in the name and output of 201 hp, and a performance-oriented variant of the Kona N.

The Hyundai Kona is currently undergoing road tests in Southern Europe.

Despite the fact that the manufacturer has not yet abandoned the disguise, we can already see a few key details.

Thus, in the published images the outlines of the car and wheels are clearly visible.

The latter, by the way, got a rather complicated knitting scheme. As for the silhouette of the car, fake overlays were used to disguise it, but it is still difficult to hide the shape of the body in this way.

It is already possible to discern the sporty outlines of the crossover.

It’s also worth mentioning that with each road test the Hyundai Kona gets a little less camouflage.

In particular, this time the grille, air intake and optics were partially opened.

And all three of these modules will get changes in design. In general, it is assumed that the crossover will get a style similar to the previously presented Palisade and Tucson.

At least, the grille will have a lot in common with the latter. Unfortunately, the rear bumper, as well as the interior, is still hidden under a very tight camouflage.

As for the technical equipment of the Hyundai Kona, the emphasis will be on electrification.

Thus, the crossover will be available with light hybrid (MHEV) and hybrid (HEV), as well as plug-in hybrid (PHEV) systems.

A pure electric BEV version will also be available. However, characteristics of the units have not been disclosed yet.

But it is known that the transmission will be available in two versions — «mechanical» and «automatic».
