At a special event in Thailand, the premiere of the 3rd generation Isuzu Dimax frame pickup took place. Compared to its predecessor, the new generation model has received numerous changes on all fronts, from the exterior to the technical stuffing.

Outside, the Isuzu D-Max 2021 has become noticeably more aggressive than the previous car, while the Crew Cab 4 × 4 version stands out especially in this regard, which has an enlarged radiator grille, a more angular front bumper and stylish headlights with a U-shaped pattern.

Note that the optics of the model can be LED, but only the most expensive versions can use LED headlights and flashlights.

The interior of the new Isuzu D-Max 2021 has a modern front panel with a V-shaped center console, on top of which there is a 7.0- or 9.0-inch display of the multimedia system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay interfaces. Plus, the car got a new multifunction steering wheel and a 4.2-inch on-board computer display on the dashboard.

The Japanese also installed new front seats in the pickup, which are designed to prevent so-called «whiplash» neck injuries. Four-door versions of the truck (Crew Cab) additionally boast more comfortable rear seats.

In addition, the automaker reports that with the change of generation of the model, they managed to improve the quality of finishing materials, while the car can be ordered both with a «sporty» interior design, and with a standard utilitarian one.

In the design of the car, the Japanese actively used high-strength steel, which made it possible not only to slightly lighten the body, but also to increase its rigidity by 20% at once. The automaker has also reinforced the roof and increased the size of the cargo area.

Plus, the model in the new body now has the best anti-corrosion properties. The 2021 Isuzu D-Max powertrain lineup is represented by two modernized four-cylinder turbodiesels. The base unit is the 1.9-liter RZ4E unit, which develops 150 hp. at 3,500 rpm and 350 Nm, available from 1,800 to 2,600 rpm.

Also, the car can be ordered with a 3.0-liter 4JJ3 engine, which produces 190 forces at 3600 rpm and 450 Nm, available from 1600 to 2600 rpm. The performance of this diesel engine has been increased by 13 «horses» and 20 Nm of torque. Both engines work with a six-speed manual by default, but a new six-speed automatic is also offered as an alternative.

The drive of a pickup truck can be either rear or full, while all-wheel drive cars can boast the presence of a rear differential lock with an electromagnetic actuator, which is designed to improve the model’s cross-country ability and reduce the switching time between rear- and all-wheel drive modes.

Among other things, engineers modified the suspension of the new Isuzu D-Max 2021 and abandoned the use of drum brakes in favor of disc brakes. It is reported that, thanks to the modified layout of the main units, the pickup is now able to overcome fords up to 800 mm deep (+ 200).

In addition, the third generation truck received a new electrical system, which will allow the model to be equipped with the most modern electronic assistants in the future. In the meantime, the car is only allowed to monitor the «blind» zones, but new assistants are under development, while the company is actively helping Mazda specialists.

Sales of the new Isuzu Dimax model in Russia started in the spring of the twenty-first. It was decided to supply cars to us only with a 190-horsepower diesel engine and all-wheel drive, but the box can be chosen — mechanics or automatic transmission.

The version with a double cab has a carrying capacity from 955 to 1,000 kg and costs from 2,860,000 rubles, and for the version with an automatic machine it will cost from 3,100,000 rubles.
