Jeep Compass 2021: a high-end SUV.
The new version of the compact SUV — Jeep Compass 2021 — in the body of an SUV is equally suitable for urban use and in moderate off-road conditions.

The new model in front- or all-wheel drive configuration has no age preferences and is of interest to the driving contingent of different generations.

Exterior

Decorated in the style of the brand model of the Grand Cherokee series, the car demonstrates a harmonious combination of new design and technical solutions with the recognizable features of the brand style. The list of design and design features of the front side of the building includes:

• windshield racks reinforced with plastic overlays;

• symbolic tilt of the embossed bonnet;

• silvery perimeters of seven vertical cutouts of the branded radiator lining;

• rectangular blocks of LED headlights combined with running lights and direction indicators.

The narrow ribbed bumper includes a set of side diffusers with dotted fog lamps, a plastic semi-perimeter and a decorative cover for a slotted ventilation air intake. The lower tier of the front end ends with a massive plastic body kit.

In the photo in profile, the Jeep Compass 2021 attracts attention with a masculine and slightly brutal outlines of an angular body, a sloping roof contour and a rounded-square configuration of wheel arches.
In the design features of the sidewalls:

• compact roof rails;

• contrast of decorative chrome plating of the upper semi-perimeter and black gloss of three-section window trim;

• modern mirrors and door handles hidden in the body.

The off-road style of the novelty has identified itself with a high seating position, the presence of a plastic «skirt» that combines decorative and protective functions, and an interesting design of 17-inch rims. The characteristic properties of the crossover layout are present in the design of the aft part of the brand new «Compass». In stock:

• which has become the benchmark tandem spoiler equipped with stop lights and a compact tilt window format;

• vertical edge of the roomy luggage compartment door decorated with transverse reliefs and inner sections of the lanterns;

• interesting graphics and complex shape of the blocks of multifunctional rear lights.

Restyling did not add anything new to the design of the lower aft segment. The new body still features a prominent bumper profile, a small body kit, a pair of fog lamps and a decorative and protective metal panel with two cutouts for the exhaust pipes.

The all-wheel drive modification will receive a towing hook built into the body kit niche. A positive visual perception of the stern is formed by the chrome plating of the brand logo and nameplates, as well as a proportional combination of wave and ribbed reliefs.

Interior

The salon will delight motorists with the quality of the finishing and decoration assortment, the front panel equipment, decent comfort and ergonomics of five seats.

• The instrument panel with a classic set of pointer indicators and a 5-inch diagonal of an informative computer monitor is clearly visible through the upper sector of the multifunction steering wheel.

• Block design of the upper tier of the console includes a 9-inch media tablet with touch-sensitive command functionality and a set of ventilation ducts.

• Few buttons and switches on the ground controls provide quick activation of functional as well as comfort options.

• The basic configuration of the tunnel includes a well for small travel items, a power transmission control lever, standard organizers and a refrigerating chamber closed by a soft folding armrest.

The boarding and road service of the pilot seats, ergonomic and very comfortable for their class, offers elements of lateral support, heated and cooled seats, a standard list of adjustment ranges.

The back sofa, for three seats, compensates for the lack of service functionality with a backrest tilt and a comfortable fit with plenty of personal space. Unlike similar analogues, the «gallery» lacks a transformation function to increase the volume of the standard 410-liter trunk. The disadvantage compensates for the presence of a niche in the floor for a spare wheel and on-board tools.

Specifications

The status of a compact car is confirmed by the indicators D-W-V 4416 x 1890 and 1645 mm, the outer dimensions of the center distance 2640 mm. The clearance height in different modifications varies from 209 to 229 mm.

At the heart of the new «Compass» is a universal modular platform FCA Small Wide 4 × 4 with a transverse arrangement of the power unit and a post-McPherson independent suspension. In the chassis configuration:

• gas-filled vibration dampers;

• effective stabilizers of lateral stability;

• disc brakes and road safety systems.

Of the entire variety of the engine range, the version of the Jeep Compass 2021 crossover for the Russian market will be offered with a 2.4-liter petrol «four» in two pumping options, respectively 150 hp / 229 Nm or 175 hp / 237 Nm. The traction characteristics of the engine are effectively realized by a 9-band automatic with a multi-plate clutch or an Active Drive Low system.

The multidisciplinary test drive did not reveal significant discrepancies with the factory data and the results of control tests.

Options and prices

Abroad, the price of new items of various modifications in ruble terms varies from 2 to 2.4 million.

Competing models

In a moderate price category, Renault Koleos, Lifan X70 and the world’s bestsellers Kia Sportage, VW Tiguan and Nissan Qashqai claim the status of rivals.
