Kia Australia is preparing to launch the 2023 Kia EV6 GT in the local market.
The car will be officially unveiled at the Australian Open in January.
The EV6 GT is already available in overseas markets, including the United States. This electric car promises to be Kia’s most powerful production car ever.
The EV6 GT is powered by a 77.4 kWh battery that powers the 215 hp front engine and 362 hp rear engine. The output is a combined 576 hp and 605 Nm.
But it’s not just the powertrain that will set the EV6 GT apart from the younger variants.
It will also come standard with green brake calipers, electronically controlled suspension, an electronically controlled limited slip differential, 21-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, LED Intelligent Front Lighting System (IFS) headlights and LED headlamps.
It also gets larger brakes with four-piston calipers front and rear, 380 mm front and 360 mm rear discs.
Kia notes that the new headlights use a front camera to detect oncoming and moving vehicles ahead and reduce the risk of dazzling other motorists by controlling the individual LEDs in each headlight.
The EV6 GT interior will have several new features, including a GT mode button on the steering wheel, bucket seats upholstered in faux leather and suede, and heated front and rear seats. Pricing and equipment information will be available in January.
Tech specs and features
The 2023 KIA EV6 remains available in different versions:
Standard Range 2WD — one electric motor on the rear axle (170 hp) and a 58 kW∙h traction battery. The range is 400 km.
Standard Range 4WD has two electric motors with a total capacity of 235 hp and the same 58 kW∙h battery. Cruising range is 380 km.
Long Range 2WD — rear-wheel drive with 228 hp engine and 77.4 kW∙h battery. Autonomous range is 510 km.
Long Range 4WD is all-wheel drive with 325 hp engines and the same traction battery. The range does not exceed 490 km.
Kia EV6 GT
The fifth and most «charged» modification of the cross-hatchback Kia EV6 2023 bears the eloquent name GT.
