The future of the Kia Stinger liftback is unclear: Kia has repeatedly stated that it has not yet made a decision about the direction in which the model will evolve.

Demand turned out to be low and went down already in the second year of sales: if in 2018 worldwide sold 28 thousand Stingers, in 2019 — 23 thousand, and in 2020 — less than 19 thousand.

The appearance of a direct successor is unlikely, so Kia will either abandon the Stinger altogether, or replace it with an electric car.

But for now the Stinger is in line and has moved into the 2022 model year: such cars are already available for order from Russian dealers.

There are only two updates. The first is new logos on the body and interior.

And the second is the Kia Connect telematics system, which allows you to connect to the car remotely using your smartphone, unlock the doors, start the engine, control the climate control, and monitor the condition of the car.

Kia Stinger liftbacks are still offered with the 2.0 T-GDI turbo four in 197 and 247 horsepower variants or the V6 3.3 T-GDI (370 hp) engine.

All vehicles have an eight-speed automatic. Only the base version has rear-wheel drive with a self-locking differential, all other versions have all-wheel drive, but only V6 engines have self-locking clutch.

The set of options is preserved, and the prices since the start of sales of the updated model in February have risen by 310-350 thousand rubles.

And dealer markups on Stingers, as a rule, don’t exceed 500 thousand roubles, while Kia sellers easily add 1-1,5 million for crossovers and SUVs.

Sales of Kia Stinger 2022 with a new logo have started in Russia. The fastback’s price ranges from 2,719,900 to 4,149,900 rubles.

Kia has announced the start of taking orders for the Stinger 2022 model year.

The only external difference from the previous model — a new flat brand logo, and in the equipment added a set of telematic services Kia Connect, allowing you to manage some functions from your smartphone.

This has affected the cost: for a basic Stinger 2020 in the Luxe configuration are asked 2,719,900 rubles — 30 thousand rubles more than for the outgoing model.

By installing a proprietary app, you can now monitor the status of the car’s systems and its location, receive notifications about unlocked doors, forgotten passengers, a low battery, fuel levels, and various malfunctions.

In addition, it allows you to start the engine, all provided heating systems — from the steering wheel to the rear window, climate control, as well as turn on the «emergency», lock and unlock the doors.

Starting with the Style version, Kia Connect can transmit a route to the navigation system, set on a smartphone, taking into account traffic jams.

Stinger, as before, is offered in five versions: Luxe, Prestige, Style, GT Line and GT.

Two petrol engines are included into the motor range: two-liter turbo-question T-GDi with direct injection for 197 and 247 horsepower, and also twin-turbo V6 3.3 T-GDi producing 370 horsepower.

The initial Luxe version with the 197-horsepower engine has rear-wheel drive in the fastback, while the others are equipped with an all-wheel drive system.

Earlier this week, Kia updated one of its most expensive models for the new model year — an SUV Mohave.

The base model of the Mohave got a limited slip differential on the rear axle and also got Kia Connect.
