The cheapest Lexus BX crossover is shown in an unusual body style in a new image.

A few months ago, it became known that Lexus was working on a new compact crossover, which will be the cheapest such product for the Japanese brand.

But now the manufacturer is busy with creation of electric parka car as well.

This model will also have compact dimensions. The new Lexus BX is expected to debut in 2023.

It is reported that length of the Japanese model will not exceed 4200 mm. The first rendering showing unusual exterior of the 2023 Lexus BX has appeared in the network.

First of all, it attracts attention not typical for models of the Japanese brand body design.

The crossover is equipped with a large air intake with a non-standard pattern formed by small protruding slats.

The sports style peculiar to Lexus crossovers is emphasized by «sharp» LED strips in headlights.

This effect is supplemented by wide side cutouts in the front bumper.

Despite the compact sizes, the future BX will be a five-door crossover. Let’s note that officially this index is not assigned to the Japanese model.

But the European media assume that Lexus will release electric BX. Besides, this model will be also released with a hybrid unit based on a 1.5-liter atmospheric engine and an electric motor.

According to rumors, the new Lexus BX will debut in spring 2023. The appearance of this model is justified in part by the fact that today many premium brands refuse compact crossovers, which created a gap in the market.

It can be filled by a Japanese parkcar with a hybrid, which is considered one of the best in class: it is not only economical, but also provides good dynamics and body weight distribution.

Lexus will have an inexpensive and very small crossover. The Japanese firm plans to release a subcompact BX all-terrain vehicle.

The novelty will be more compact than UX SUV, will be the most inexpensive model in the range and will repeat technical stuffing of recently presented Toyota Yaris Cross. Sales of the Lexus BX will not begin until 2023.

The Chinese edition Autohome claims that the subcompact Lexus BX will be slightly larger than the Yaris Cross, and will differ from its «relative» model with an original body and more rich equipment.

The BX will be based on the most compact variation of TNGA’s modular architecture, the GA-B platform, while the Lexus UX is based on the GA-C «bogie». Probably, the length of a body of the new Lexus won’t exceed 4,3 meters.

Revelations in the engine range are not expected: Lexus BX will be driven by the hybrid system consisting of a 1.5-liter atmospheric engine, an electric motor and a variator with a manual first gear.

It is possible that the top versions will be offered an electric all-wheel-drive system E-Four with a separate motor-generator in the rear axle drive.
