Maserati Quattroporte 2024.

New Maserati Quattroporte: Powertrain capacity will be less than that of the GranTurismo.

According to the manufacturer’s plan, the next sedan of the premium Italian brand will go on sale in 2024. It will remain the only «four-door» after the departure of the Ghibli.

Maserati has been producing the Quattroporte sedan since 1963, and the current generation appeared in 2013.

According to the website Carsalesbase, in Europe the peak year for this «four-door» was 2015: then dealers managed to sell 815 copies.

Since then, sales have been gradually declining; thus, at the end of 2021 customers bought only 115 units (one car less than the year before).

In the current year the sedan has so far positive dynamics: in January-September it has sold 92 copies, 4.5% less than for the first three quarters of last year. Now Maserati is developing a new generation Quattroporte.

Now in the lineup of Maserati is two «four-doors»: in addition to a large executive Quattroporte, in the lineup there is a business sedan Ghibli.

Note, it has higher sales figures: for example, last year Europeans bought 1,434 copies (42.5% more than in 2020).

At the same time, as it became known last summer, the Ghibli will leave the lineup (production will be completed in 2024), while the Quattroporte will remain and go to the next generation.

As foreign media noted earlier, the company decided to keep the model lineup is Quattroporte, as this name is more known and recognizable than Ghibli.

But not to lose the audience of business sedan, Quattroporte will be lowered in class: therefore, in the new generation, it will move from the current representative class F to the business segment E.

According to Maserati’s head of global products Massimo Capaldi, quoted by British Autocar, the development of «green» is «changing everything,» noting in particular that now «car segments overlap» and adding that the company calculates that the next Quattroporte will attract a new type of customer.

The novelty is expected to hit the market in 2024.
The Maserati brand, owned by car giant Stellantis, intends to completely abandon cars with internal combustion engines by 2030.

It is possible that the new Quattroporte will have only fully electric «filling», and the name will be joined by the word Folgore, which in translation from Italian means «lightning».

The next sedan is expected to compete for buyers with the Mercedes-Benz EQE and BMW i7.

Probably, Maserati Quattroporte of the new generation will share the technique with the recently presented GranTurismo Folgore coupe.

We would remind you that the «two-door» is equipped with a three-motor power plant: one electric motor is located on the front axle and two more — on the rear.

The cumulative output of this system is 761 hp and maximum torque is 1350 Nm. Blocks of traction battery with a capacity of 92.5 kW * h (useful capacity — 83 kW * h) are located inside the central tunnel, under the front seats and behind the back of the rear sofa.

The coupe needs 2.7 seconds to accelerate from a place up to a «hundred» and has a top speed of 320 km/h. We assume the sedan’s performance (including output and dynamic characteristics) will be more modest due to the vehicle’s greater mass and other configurations.

The publication suggests that the price of a new Maserati Quattroporte on the British market will be around 150 thousand pounds sterling.

Let’s note, the starting price of the actual representative Quattroporte makes 92,825 pounds, and the present business sedan Ghibli costs about 24 thousand pounds cheaper.
