Diesel Mazda CX-60 e-Skyactiv D 2023 will please owners with low consumption.

The European variant of the crossover Mazda CX-60 will be equipped with the new six-cylinder diesel e-Skyactiv D, and representatives of the Japanese brand have already announced characteristics of this unit.

Let’s notice that the last has been for the first time presented in April of the twenty-second together with occurrence on the Japanese market of the new CX-60. Now this 3.3-liter capacity unit was announced for Europe.

By itself e-Skyactiv D has a 48-volt starter-generator M Hybrid Boost and combustion technology DCPCI (Distribution-Controlled Partially Premixed Compression Ignition), which provides more efficient fuel mixture preparation process, its complete combustion and low emissions.

Due to this, the thermal efficiency of the motor is at 40%, which is very good.

Plus, it boasts low fuel consumption — from 4.9 to 5.3 liters per 100 km (depending on the specific version).

And also the new diesel has a small weight (it is comparable to the weight of a similar 2.2-liter diesel), which had a positive impact on the manageability of the vehicle.

In the European market the unit will be available in two variants of forcing.

The basic variant has a power of 200 hp and is designed for rear-wheel drive versions of the crossover.

Its CO2 emissions are claimed to be 127 grams per kilometer.

For the senior variants the 254 hp engine and full drive i-Activ AWD is offered. In such cars the level of harmful emissions is a little bit higher — 137 grams/km.

As a whole, the diesel engine of Mazda has turned out very ecological. For comparison, on BMW X3 the six-cylinder engine B57 emits 160-183 grams of CO2 (according to WLTP cycle).

As for dynamics, the CX-60 with the older diesel is able to accelerate 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 7.4 seconds.

In Europe, the model will also be offered with the e-Skyactiv PHEV hybrid unit, and after a while a 3.0-liter e-Skyactiv gasoline six will also be available for it.
