Mercedes-AMG GT 2022.

The Mercedes-AMG GT has received a track version for the 55th anniversary of the AMG division.

To the 55th anniversary of subdivision AMG Germans have decided to return in operation front-engined supercar Mercedes-AMG GT, serial production of which ended in December of the twenty-first year.

Automaker introduced a track version of the model, which received the prefix «Track Series» in the name.

This is the most powerful two-door ever made.

Reportedly, the modification was based on a top-of-the-line road-going Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Coupe, which once set a lap record at the Nürburgring.

For the development of track special edition specialists were involved engineering bureau HWA AG, and the donor car has received a number of solutions from racing sports cars GT3 and GT4 categories.

The exterior of the supercar has a redesigned aerodynamic dodger with the original front splitter and rear diffuser.

At the same time, it has an adjustable antifender as standard. The two-door also boasts a carbon fiber hood, fenders, side skirts, a third door and a rear bumper, which helped to lighten the construction

Interior of this car is noticeably simplified: the only equipment that remains is air conditioning, while the developers refused even to use power windows.

At the same time, the model is characterized by the presence of a racing driver’s bucket, Bosch display instead of the traditional dashboard and the steering wheel instead of the steering wheel. The trim again includes a lot of details made of carbon fiber.

As a result, the track supercar weighs only 1,400 pounds (- 140 kg), and the two-door is entitled to a 120-liter fuel tank (on the road AMG GT Black Series tank only 65 liters).

In motion, the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series is powered by the familiar 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine with a «flat» crankshaft, which has undergone another upgrade.

In particular, the power unit received other direct injection injectors and reconfigured control program.

This allowed to increase the output of the unit to 734 hp (+ 4). (+ 4) and 850 Nm (+ 50).

It is interesting that the developers have also refused the seven-range robot in favor of a racing sequential gearbox Hewland HLS.

It has six gears and you can switch between them with paddle paddles.

Other features include differential with adjustable degree of mechanical locking.

Suspension here involves adjustable Bilstein struts (instead of electronically controlled shock absorbers) and adjustable anti-roll bars.

Furthermore, the track coupe can be adjusted operation of driving electronics. For example, ABS and traction control system have 11 different levels, differing from each other with a degree of intervention. However, these assistants can be turned off at all.

The brake system uses conventional steel disks: 390 mm in front and 355 mm behind.

List of available options is purely racing: a passenger seat (it is not in the base), extra ventilation of the pilot’s helmet and drinking water system.

The Germans will release 55 copies of Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series at a price of 369,000 euros (39.3 million rubles at current exchange rates) for each.

Dealers racing twin-drives will not appear — they can be ordered only from the factory. Shipment of cars to customers will begin in the second quarter of 2022.
