Mercedes-Benz GLC 2022. The designation GLC in the model lineup of Mercedes means a luxury compact crossover.

In 2015 it replaced the GLK, four years later it underwent a restyling, and by the 2022 model year it is preparing to appear in the appearance of a car of a completely new generation.

It is already undergoing road tests, and a completely different body shape can be seen through the dense body camouflage.

There is no doubt that it will be a completely new car not only in appearance, because the manufacturer has already announced the release of a more modern and efficient rechargeable version of the Mercedes GLC 2022 model year.

Review of the second generation

The upcoming GLC 2022 model year update is timely, as demand for these vehicles has shown a growing negative trend over 2019-2020.

And this despite the presence in the range of modifications quite successful 318-horsepower hybrid, which came to the hearts of Europeans.

But among the available versions are still presented crossovers with conventional four- and six-cylinder engines, and the appearance of German compact SUV was immediately recognized successful.

But the standard five-year «life» cycle is passed, and already with a solid margin, so designers have nothing to do but force the development of the successor.

Body

Comparing the current version of the parketta with camouflaged prototypes of the new Mercedes-Benz GLC that were caught by spy cameras, we can say that the crossover body will become longer and wider, but it will decrease in height.

Most likely, the novelty will get a modular platform MRA (Modular Rear Architecture) from the modern C-class, as well as much of the equipment.

Even now some external differences can be seen with the naked eye: transferred to the doors side mirrors, modified front bumper with air intake, narrow headlights housing headlights and new design of «grid» of the radiator grille.

Of course, the change of generation will not do without new wheels.

Interior

In the absence of photos of the interior, it is left to make assumptions, which conceptually are reduced to one: partial borrowing of the interior from the new generation of the C-class.

Blind copying of the architecture of the front console shouldn’t be expected, but its main attributes will probably be the same.

First of all, it is a digital dashboard and a large central touchscreen of the infotainment complex.

At the same time, the seating position in the cabin should become lower and the distance between the rows of seats longer, although visually the main increase in body length obviously falls on the under-body area.

Specifications and stuffing

It is confirmed that the new GLC 2022 is preparing a wide range of engines, including hybrid, but as in the new C-Class, it will consist mainly of four-cylinder units.

Even the modification AMG which is completed with 8-cylinder unit should get «4», in fact due to the electric component the hybrid motor will not lack of horsepower.

Transmission is as before exclusively automatic — 9G-Tronic and 7G-TRONIC Plus.

Mercedes-Benz GLC: prices and release date of the new model in Russia?

In the beginning of 2022, the «soft-hybrid» crossover GLC of the second generation is expected to be released, while the plug-in modifications will appear one year later.

The car will naturally increase in price, but which versions will be delivered in Russia, it is not clear yet.

For now the cheapest GLC of the current generation is the version 220 d (194 hp) — 4,69 mln rub.

Gasoline crossover GLC 200 (197 hp) is offered for 4,99 million rubles, and the «top» variant is 510 hp GLC 63 S AMG, which costs almost twice as much — 9,8 million.
