All details about the new MG4 Electric hatchback have been revealed: the «Chinese» will push the Volkswagen ID.3 in Europe.

Once British brand MG, which is now the property of the Chinese corporation SAIC, has intended to return to Europe with new models.

As representatives of the company from Celestial Empire announced earlier, the electric hatchback MG4 Electric 2022 may become available to European motorists in the near future.

On the eve there was declassified the interior of the model, as well as described its main characteristics.

As it became clear to the representatives of the European media, the basis of the original hatchback is based on MSP architecture.

It allows producing a variety of «electric» cars with different variants of bodies.

Speaking about the new MG4 Electric, its kitting in the European market will be offered with a battery capacity of 51 and 64 kW * h, so the car will be able to overcome at the expense of a single charge distance of 350-450 km.

It is known that the hatchback will be mono-drive and its engine will be installed only on the rear axle.

Depending on the version the engine output will reach 170 and 204 horsepower.

These characteristics will allow the car to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 8 seconds. The top speed of the hatchback will be 160 km/h.

In terms of dimensions the electric car will not be too big. Its body dimensions are 4287x1836x1504 mm.

The list of available systems include the following features: two digital screens from the multimedia and dashboard, a key to activate the installation of climate control, washer control modes, as well as electromechanical «handbrake» selector.

The main competitor of the Chinese electric car is called Volkswagen ID.3, and it is expected to be more favorable in terms of price availability.

British brand MG Cars, owned by China’s Nanjing Automobile, has announced its new electric car called the MG4 Electric.

The rear-wheel drive novelty will go on sale on the European market in the fourth quarter of 2022 and will compete with the Volkswagen ID.3

The MG4 Electric for the European market is an updated version of the MG Mulan released this month in China.

The electric car is built on the new MSP modular platform developed by SAIC Motor, MG’s parent company.

The MG4 Electric is a compact five-door rear-wheel drive hatchback that is similar in size to the Volkswagen ID.3. Its length is 4,287 mm, width is 1,835 mm, and height is only 1,504 mm.

At the same time in the cabin the car is quite spacious — there, as the manufacturer claims, is enough space for the driver and four passengers.

The car will be offered in at least two configurations. The junior model is equipped with a 125 kW (168 hp) electric motor and 51 kWh battery, which will give it a cruising range of 350 kilometers.

The older model will be powered by a 150 kW (201 hp) electric motor and will be able to drive up to 450 km without recharging thanks to a 64 kW⋅h battery.

Allegedly, it will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 8 seconds, and its top speed will be limited to 160 km/h.

In the future, the British brand promises to release new versions of the MG4 Electric, including all-wheel drive.
