The new Porsche 911 GT3 is further removed from the base model.

The first model of the Porsche 911 992 series debuted back in 2018, but the family is not yet complete.

The racing version of the 911 GT3 Cup is followed by the Porsche 911 GT3 road coupe.

As before, this is the only modification that retains the naturally aspirated engine, and the design differences from the base Carrera are now greater than ever.

The previous model inherits a 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer, which has a dry sump and individual throttle valves for each cylinder.

This motor can spin up to 9000 rpm, and its output is increased from 500 hp. and 460 Nm to 510 hp. and 469 Nm.

The main gearbox is a seven-speed «robot» PDK with two clutches, but for enthusiasts the six-speed «mechanics» is also retained.

The most important difference from the previous model is the double wishbone front suspension instead of the base McPherson struts.

In the family of the previous generation, such a scheme was used only on the racing version of the RSR. The front track is 48 mm wider.

And the rear multi-link, although it retained the general design, has no common parts with the base Carrera. Instead of rubber-metal hinges, rigid ball joints are installed.

The base brakes are 408mm steel discs at the front (28mm more than before) and 380mm at the rear. For a surcharge, carbon-ceramic brakes with discs with a diameter of 410 mm at the front and 390 mm at the rear are offered.

The new wheels are 20 «in diameter at the front and 21» at the rear, but are wider than the old ones, but at the same time saved 1.6 kg «per circle».

Option — Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R semi-slickers, which were previously offered only for the most extreme version of the GT3 RS.

In general, the new Porsche 911 GT3 coupe is 70 kg lighter than the previous one: the version with the «mechanics» in the equipped state weighs 1418 kg, and with the «robot» — 1435 kg.

This was achieved, among other things, thanks to the expanded use of lightweight materials. For example, the engine cover, adjustable wing and spoiler underneath are made of carbon fiber.

The glasses have become thinner than before. And another 12 kg can be lost by ordering carbon fiber chairs.

The road version of the GT3 has a media system and air conditioning.

On the steering wheel there is a button for switching the driving modes of the electronics, and the instrument display has a Track Screen racing mode, which displays the most important parameters during a race.

The optional Chrono Package includes an analogue chronometer on the dashboard, and a semi-roll cage can be ordered in place of the rear seats.

What’s the bottom line? Up to 100 km / h, the new PDK “robot” coupe can accelerate in the same 3.4 seconds as the previous model.

And the maximum speed has not changed: 318 km / h (with the «mechanics» 320 km / h).

But on the track, the new model is guaranteed to be faster than the old one, and this is confirmed by the factory run on the legendary Nürburgring: the 20.8 km lap was covered in 6 minutes and 59.927 seconds, that is, about 17 seconds faster than the old car.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 will go on sale in May. The price in Germany is from 168 thousand euros, and in Russia — at least 13.2 million rubles.
