French automobile brand Peugeot is preparing for mass production a new version of the all-wheel drive five-door compact van — Peugeot Rifter 2022 with 5 or 7-seat layout of a comfortable interior.

The new model demonstrates an attractive body design, high indicators of everyday practicality and technical functionality.

Developed on the basis of a commercial van «Partner», the novelty is designed in a traditional corporate style, complemented by innovative layout and design developments of leading specialists.

The modernized Rifter model of 2022 has a new platform, modified in terms of comfort and safety interior, and advanced performance characteristics of power equipment.

Exterior

On the photo, from different angles, the new body looks equally stylish, solid and a bit aggressive. From the front, the second-generation minivan attracts attention:

The sporty slope of the large-format windshield;
relief sides of a short hood;
decorative chrome-plated narrow perimeter and branded logo of the radiator grille;
a rich set of multifunctional front optics.

The front end features a compact stepped bumper, black plastic framed ventilation diffusers with integrated fog lights and a silver-trimmed plastic dodger.

The new compact five-door looks no less presentable in profile. Available:

equipped with massive rails slightly sloping roof;
black matting of the frame and window pillars;
a set of typical for the model range branded body reliefs;
rounded contours of the wheel arches and protective-decorative moldings, typical for SUVs.

The stylish entourage is complemented by modern mirrors, compact door handles and the petal pattern of the 17-inch aluminum wheels.

There are also no contradictory decisions in a complete set and design of the back of a compact van.

In the field of view: a wide hinged door of the luggage compartment, interesting by design graphics of vertical blocks of clearance and stoplights, protruding rib of a massive bumper and a monoblock of combined metal-plastic dodger.

Judging by the reviews and comments of automobile experts, Peugeot Rifter 2022 has all reasons to reach higher rating positions.

Interior

The interior of the compact van is made of relatively inexpensive but quality and good-quality materials: natural and artificial leather, ecological plastic and metal decorative accents.

Restyling marked itself with an additional command function of the steering wheel, expanded informative analog-digital dashboard, and increased ergonomics of the seats.

The central console with a remote multimedia display tablet and a block of ventilation deflectors is designed in the brand i-Cockpit style.

Minimalism also prevails in the design of the tunnel, in its basic configuration of the gearshift lever and a nominal list of organizers.

The composition of functional and comfort-forming electronics is identical to the higher-priced models.

Front, perfectly profiled, crossover-type pilot seats are equipped with elements of lateral support, mechanical or electrified adjustment ranges.

There is multimedia equipment, dual-zone climate control, navigation and rear hemisphere video systems.

Heating and ventilation — the prerogative of the top modifications. Rear, spacious and comfortable for its class, the sofa can accommodate three adults.

The seven-seat interior offers two additional seats that can be partially transformed to increase the luggage compartment from 775 to 4,000 liters.

A full-size spare tire stowed in the floor recess does not affect the volume of the trunk.

Technical data

The second generation of Peugeot Rifter 2022 compact van is promised in modifications with standard and elongated body, respectively 4400 and 4750 mm, width and height indicators in ratios of 1850 and 1810 mm are identical for both variants.

Distance between the axle base is 2780, the height of off-road clearance is more than 200 mm.

The combined «bogie» consists of the front module of the EMP2 and the rear part of the prototypes Partner/Berlingo of early releases.

The front suspension is McPherson, rear suspension is semi-independent torsion. The chassis design includes an undercarriage stabilizer bar, a circle of disc brakes and a full set of safety systems.

Diesel power units dominate in the engine range. In the base kitting the compact van is equipped with economical tandem of one and a half liter turbocharged diesel engine with 75, 100 or 130 hp and 5-speed manual transmission, in the top version — with 8-range hydromechanical automatic Aisin.

The test drive confirmed the traction and speed characteristics indicated by the manufacturer.

In the basic, front-wheel-drive version, the off-road parameters are increased due to the electronic system Grip Control and tires with special tread.

Options and Prices

There is information that the price of basic front-wheel drive model on the markets of the European Union will start from 20.5 thousand euros.

Modification for Russia will also exceed the psychological threshold of 1.5 million rubles. The cost of the version with an extended body and all-wheel drive is specified.

Sales start in Russia

The domestic market is not completely sold out of the same branded counterparts of previous batches. It is very likely that the release date of the new version in Russia will be postponed to a later date.
