Porsche 911 992 GT3 Touring 2022. Porsche has unveiled new versions of the 2022 Porsche 911.

Porsche has expanded the new generation 911 family (index 992) with a «charged» modification of the GTS. The variant with an original design, a retuned chassis and an uprated engine is available for the model in three body styles: coupe, convertible and targa.

Visually, the new Porsche 911 GTS is easily recognizable by the nameplates on the body, tinted decor, tinted optics with a different design for the taillights, as well as the «black» interior trim with GT Sport steering wheel and especially electrically adjustable sports seats.

The main feature of the GTS performance was the engine — a 3.0-liter six-cylinder «boxer» with twin turbocharging, producing 480 horsepower (+30 hp) and 570 Nm (+20 Nm) of torque.

A pair of this motor is an eight-speed «robot» PDK or an optional seven-speed «mechanics».

The acceleration dynamics with such units is more than decent. According to the portal 110km.ru, the version of the Carrera 4 GTS with a «robot» accelerates to «hundreds» in just 3.3 seconds — 0.3 seconds faster than its predecessor.

The standard equipment of the new 911 GTS includes a retuned active suspension (with a 10 mm lower ground clearance in the coupe and convertible), a «sonorous» exhaust with special settings, sports brakes from the 911 Turbo and light-alloy wheels with a diameter of 20 inches on the front axle and 21 inches — on the back.

An optional Lightweight Design Package will also be available this fall, reducing the overall weight of the vehicle by 25 kilograms.

In addition to the missing rear sofa, it will include exclusive carbon-framed bucket seats, lightweight windows and a battery, as well as a fully-steering chassis and a number of new aerodynamic elements.

New 2022 Porsche 911 GT3

Ever since the 992 Generation Porsche debuted at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the track GT3. Porsche finally unveiled it, showing the car in full and confirming all the technical specifications.

The 992 911 GT3 adheres to the familiar formula of natural atmospheric power, lightweight materials and high downforce. Like previous generations, the new car is also closely related to the latest 911 GT3 Cup racing car.

The engine is a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated 6-cylinder boxer that produces a peak 502 hp. from. and 346 lb-ft of torque, and readily revs up to 9,000 rpm.

It also provides a sharp accelerator pedal response thanks to six independent throttle valves, according to Porsche. The engine is also dry sump lubricated.

Speaking of weight, the curb weight is measured at 1,430 kg, said Andreas Preuninger, who is responsible for the development of the Porsche GT cars, earlier. This is roughly the same as the base model, which is impressive as the new car has grown in size.

To keep the weight down, engineers replaced more metal parts with lighter carbon fiber-reinforced plastics, including those for the hood, rear declid and rear fender.

As expected, the rear wing has swan-necked struts. By mounting on the top of the wing, you get more surface area on the underside of the wing and, as a result, more downforce.

This is a design taken straight from motorsport, although we’re sure not everyone will be happy. Don’t worry, the wingless GT3 Touring is coming soon too.

More aerodynamic features are found in the front fascia, which features an adjustable lower spoiler and diffuser that can be staggered for use on the track.

The rear wing is also adjustable. As a result, the GT3’s aerodynamics can switch between urban tuning and maximum performance tuning. The latter increases downforce by up to 150% over the standard GT3.

Buyers will be able to choose between a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (note, not 8-speed as in the other 992 911).

Those who are unhappy with the slower 911 Braun electric razor-like gear selector nub will be pleased to hear that the GT3 dual-clutch center console will be fitted with a corresponding gear lever.

The 7-speed is a faster option, helping the car accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The maximum speed is 197 miles per hour.

Porsche also managed to complete a lap at the Nurburgring in 6: 59.927 seconds, which is 17 seconds faster than the 991 GT3 and just a couple of seconds slower than the 991 GT3 RS.

For the first time in history, a 911 GT3 has a double wishbone front axle. This is a completely new setup compared to the previous car and also features the GT3 Cup racer.

The benefits are said to include improved steering precision and cornering stability. When it comes to the multi-link rear suspension, Preininger says none of it is in common with other 911 models on sale today.

The center-locking wheels are larger than before, with 20 wheels at the front and 21 wheels at the rear.

The staggered Michelin tires are 315 wide at the rear and 255 at the front. One option will be Cup R track tires, Preininger said.

The standard iron brake discs are also larger than before, measuring 408 millimeters at the front axle, or 28 millimeters larger than before. Available in 410mm carbon ceramic on the front.

The new 911 GT3 arrives as a 2022 model. It will hit dealerships in the fall and pricing will be announced closer to that date.

Also in the works is the aforementioned GT3 Touring as well as the more hardcore GT3 RS.
