Porsche Macan 2021: a prestigious premium all-wheel drive crossover.
The Porsche company is positioning its new product — the Porsche Macan 2021 — as a premium compact crossover with a comfortable cabin interior and dynamic sports characteristics of a power tandem.

In the new incarnation, the crossover is focused on the needs of a well-off and active youth driver’s contingent.

The new model is more affordable at the cost of modifying the same type of branded analogue of the S series.

The 2021 Macan is identified by the configuration of the running lights built into the front diffusers, by the absence of nameplates on the aft and by the presence of only two exhaust pipes.

Exterior

The front-facing photo of the new premium crossover reveals the characteristic details of the aggressive styling. In the spotlight:

• excellent aerodynamics of the hood and front fenders;

• blocks of LED or bi-xenon optics carefully inscribed into the contours of the sidewalls;

• coarse-mesh plastic trapezoid of the radiator lining.

The layout features of the lower front end include a compact bumper, rectangular contours and transverse lamellas of side ventilation diffusers, horizontal fog lamps recessed into the body and a ribbed profile of a plastic body kit.

The design of the Porsche Macan 2021 is no less bright and expressive in numerous photos from the side view. The new body demonstrates:

• a gentle slope of the domed roof;

• silver narrow perimeter and black gloss of three-section window pillars;

• semi-oval modern mirrors and small door handles protruding from the body;

• a stepped profile visually connecting the high wheel arches and a wide protective and decorative sill strip.

The overall surroundings are effectively complemented by a five-beam pattern and a design of two-tone rims increased to 19 inches.

Another restyling made it possible to introduce several new, technical and design solutions to the structure of the rear side of the case.

In the field of view — the sharp edge of the spoiler visor supplemented with stop lights, the steep slope of the window and the strict vertical of the tailgate, characteristic of the crossover classics.

Attention is drawn to the interesting graphics and the oval shape of multifunctional lights, a powerful bumper with a cutout for a registration plate, a set of fog lamps and a large caliber of rectangular exhaust systems built into the body kit.

Despite the minimum amount of decorative chrome and dynamic stepped reliefs, the Porsche Macan 2021 crossover looks stylish, dynamic and presentable to the maximum.

Interior

The design of the welcoming four-seater salon is copied from its predecessor with minor changes. In stock: premium quality finish and its flawless installation, perfectly profiled configuration and ergonomics of the seats.

• In the configuration of a stepped front panel: an analog or virtual version of the instrument panel, a traditional dial of an analogue clock for premium cars, a media monitor of the center console supplemented with expanded command functionality, deflectors and elements for activating functional and entertainment options.

• Management of the most frequently demanded systems is assigned to the command buttons of the multifunction steering wheel. The center tunnel includes a power shift joystick, travel mode switches, organizers and a padded, comfortable armrest.

The composition and capabilities of the standard electronics correspond to the complete set of cars of a higher price category. The asset is a multi-channel audio system operating on two digital standards, the ability to view video through the display built into the front panel.

The premium status of the new crossover is confirmed by the extended service of the front seats, full lumbar support, a wide range of different adjustments, heating and ventilation. In the top-end modifications, the function of multi-mode vibration massage is promised.

The rear two-seater sofa compensates for the limited list of services with a comfortable fit, a large amount of personal space, the ability to install a comfortable tilt of the sofa back.

The new version of the crossover provides for the transformation of the rear seats for a threefold increase in the 500-liter trunk volume.

Specifications

The outer dimensions copied from the predecessor in the ratios of 4681 x 1923 and 1624 mm are left unchanged. In the layout of the undercarriage, attention should be paid to the length of the center-to-center base of 2807 mm and the height of the off-road clearance of 200 mm.

The new 2021 Porsche Macan is adapted to the design features of the MLB / MLP bogie with independent spring-link suspension, a complete set of ventilated disc brakes and additional features of safety systems and auxiliary electronics.

The off-road properties of the chassis are improved by the automatic locking of the center differential.

Air suspension with adjustable shock absorber stiffness is included in the list of paid options.

• Dynamic starting and speed characteristics of the novelty are realized by a power tandem of a two-liter turbocharged DVM with an output of 252 hp / 370 Nm of peak torque and a robotic transmission supplemented by a multi-plate clutch.

• The test drive showed the time to reach the first hundred — 6.7 seconds, the maximum speed up to 230 km / h, the average fuel consumption 7.3 liters.

Options and prices

In the domestic crossover market, the price of the initial model is announced at 3.7 million rubles. There are no data on the development of top versions in information sources.

Sales start in Russia

The exact release date in Russia will be available in the middle of the first quarter of 2021.

Competing models

In the category of premium crossovers, the new Makan has relatively few real rivals. The new model has all the data to successfully compete with the same type of products from leading world brands, a class not lower than Lexus RX, BMW X1, Mercedes-GLA, Volvo XC40 or Audi Q3.
