Porsche Macan 2022 — upgraded crossover (new design, equipment and technology).

The debut of the Porsche Macan from the Stuttgart manufacturer took place in 2013, and for all this time there have been no changes of a global nature. That is, it is still the car of the 1st generation (Typ 95B).

At the same time, there were only two versions of the models:

Pre-restyled (95B.1);
restyled (95B.2).

The transition is due to take place in 2023, with cars planned to be made only on electric traction.

Such a decision was promoted by the success of Porsche Taycan electric car, which prompted the developers to introduce the idea in Macan as well. While the next restyling of 2022 model year comes out, and in fact the classic crossover variant with an internal combustion engine.

The manufacturer has provided three versions. This is the traditional base version, as well as modifications Macan S and Macan GTS. At the same time, development of an electric version was underway, which has already begun road tests. The debut and serial production will also start in two years.

Appearance

The car can observe a number of changes in the appearance. The body has gained more square outlines with symmetrical lines. Slight changes have affected the lights — the headlamp system is now of adaptive design.

Air intakes in the front bumper increased in size, and the diffuser of the rear one changed its outlines. The wheel rims also look different now.

Their size varies from 19 to 21 inches, depending on the configuration. The design is offered in seven variants.

The radiator grille is also different — two modifications (base and S) have an insert in the body color, while the third version (GTS) has almost all black front end.

Side mirrors correspond to the Sport Design style. The body painting is complemented by new colors — orange and blue, and the total palette includes 14 shades.

The loaded version features the Python Green color scheme.

Ultimately, Porsche’s designers initially got the concept of how the car should look right. When creating the restyled version, they decided to stay true to tradition by introducing minor details.

As a result, the Porsche Macan began to play with new «colors».

Interior and equipment

Engineers decided to implement a controversial at first glance innovation — to equip the central tunnel with touch buttons instead of the analog that were previously.

The gear lever became more compact, the steering wheel is new, like in the Porsche 911.

But the developers decided to keep the clock analog and placed in the center at the top of the front panel in all modifications without exception.

The multimedia system on the contrary has not changed and here all the same widescreen Full HD display (10.9 inches), capable of recognizing voice commands and gives access to many online services.

The list of options includes not only the new type of driving assistants, but also various safety systems.

The restyling added several new upholstery schemes and decor options. Inside the top models, sports seats with a rich list of adjustments and including carbon elements.

There is also contrast stitching and GTS lettering. In addition to the Race-Tex material, there are carbon fiber elements in the cabin.

Technical Specifications

Each of the versions of the Porsche Macan provides for its own powertrain. Under the hood of basic models — an upgraded two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 265 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

To accelerate up to conditional «hundred» the car needs 6,2 seconds, and earlier it was necessary to wait for 6,7. Maximum speed increased from 227 to 232 km/h.

The S modification is equipped with a three-liter V6 power plant with a twin-turbocharger system. With this volume the engine is able to develop 380 hp and 520 Nm (torque).

At that the «hundred» the car gains in 4.6 seconds. The speed has also increased — instead of 254 now it is already 259 km/h.

The updated GTS model received the same «six», but with more power and torque:

440 hp;
550 Nm.

Such equipment allows to reach the threshold of 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. The maximum speed value — 272. As for the mechanism of the transmission, the motors of absolutely all modifications work together with a 7-band PDK robotized gearbox.

Some technical parameters of the novelty also have their own indicators depending on the modification, in addition to the engines (in the table below).

The platform remains the same as it was before — MLB. It is equipped with the Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive system, which provides more maneuverability, stability and traction.

Engineers reconfigured shock absorbers, improved feedback on the steering wheel. The adaptive (active) suspension is available for S modifications, as well as GTS. It is also offered as an option to the basic configuration.

Competitors

The novelty of the premium class of 2022 will have to compete with worthy opponents:

Many of the contenders on the list are popular with a wide audience of Russian motorists.

In particular, most drivers speak warmly of the models BMW, Lexus, Audi, Mercedes.

The German quality knows its price, and that is why there will be a serious struggle. In addition, the cost of the competitors is lower, at least in the basic equipment.

Release Date and Prices

The novelty is sure to arrive on the Russian market, as well as its counterpart with an electrified unit. This should take place at the end of the year, tentatively in the 4th quarter.
