Renault Kangoo E-Tech Electric 2023. The electric Renault Kangoo proved to be more efficient than the competition.

In fact, electric Kangoo of the new generation debuted a year ago, but only as a commercial van.

Now a passenger version called Renault Kangoo E-Tech Electric has arrived.

It is addressed not so much to corporate buyers as to individuals, and it has its own features.

Kangoo E-Tech Electric has a standard wheelbase (lengthened Kangoo is not yet presented), and visually differs from petrol and diesel versions only by another grille.

The front axle is equipped with an electric motor with an output of 120 hp and 245 Nm.

But in Eco mode, the power is limited to 75 hp, and the maximum speed is not more than 110 km/h.

The 45 kWh CATL traction battery consists of eight modules, which are located within the wheelbase.

Because of this, the floor level in the cabin is raised by 10 cm compared to the versions with an internal combustion engine.

The rear row is also set higher, it can not be folded flush with the floor of the trunk, but a mechanism of longitudinal adjustment in the range of 140 mm has been added.

All this has affected the volume of the luggage compartment: 850 to 2500 liters against 775-3500 liters in cars with ICE.

Another new feature is virtual gauges, but they will soon appear in gasoline/diesel versions (for extra charge).

Diesel heater is in the past, now Kangoo has a heat pump and a full «winter package» with electric heated seats, steering wheel and windshield.

Funny detail: in the name of unification of the body panels the electric car has a hatch on the right side, but it is plugged and there is no petrol tank neck under it. Charging connectors are located on the nose.

In the basic version, Kangoo has only 11 kW AC charger.

A 22kW charger combined with an 80kW DC unit is available for an extra charge, and in this case a traction battery thermal management system is added.

Claimed mileage on a single charge — 285 km in the combined cycle WLTP (versus 230 km in the previous model), and in the city range can reach 430 km.

In other words, the Renault «heel» is ahead of its main competitors from the Stellantis range in terms of energy efficiency.

Electric cars Citroen e-Berlingo, Peugeot e-Rifter, Opel Combo e-Life and Fiat e-Doblo have more powerful electric motor (136 hp, 260 Nm) and high-capacity battery (46.2 kWh), but have 282 km driving range according to WLTP.

Produce electric Kangoo at the same plant in Mobeux, where other versions are produced.

Start of sales is scheduled for early 2023. And after that, similar passenger modifications will appear in the twin models Mercedes-Benz Citan and Nissan Townstar.
