Renewed Hyundai Sonata 2023.

Last week, photos of camouflaged samples of the restyled Sonata were published in the network, which became an occasion for us to imagine how the novelty will look.

Sonata is a part of the model range of the South Korean company since 1985, that’s when the first generation sedan was presented.

Today, the eighth generation is already on the assembly line with the factory index DN8, its premiere took place in March 2019.

The time for the planned restyling is approaching, and test specimens have already been spotted on the roads.

So far, they are heavily camouflaged, but some features of the exterior can already be discerned.

Judging by the available photos, the sedan will get a completely redesigned front end.

Most likely, the Sonata will get a horizontal LED strip of parking lights along the edge of the hood like a futuristic minivan Hyundai Staria, introduced last spring.

The main headlight blocks will be placed a little lower on the edges of the bumper, and the sedan may also get a large trapezoidal grille.

From the side, no significant changes are expected, while the rear is even more camouflaged than the front.

It can be assumed that there will be noticeable changes in the form of new rear optics too — we have depicted one of the possible options.

No information on interior and tech changes yet. The current Sonata in the home market in South Korea is offered with gasoline engines — an atmospheric 2.0 (160 hp) and turbocharged 1.6 (180 hp).

There is also a 2.0 LPI gas engine (140 hp) and a hybrid version.

According to the Korean edition The Korean Car Blog, the current Hyundai Sonata (internal codename DN8) was deemed unsuccessful.

Therefore, the manufacturer decided to skip the intermediate facelift of the car.

Instead, Hyundai plans to release a deeply updated model. Its premiere is scheduled for 2023.

The new Hyundai Sonata is being developed under the codename DN9. It will be built on the same platform as the current generation, but will get a completely new design.

Spy photos of a prototype of the new sedan in camouflage have already appeared in the Network.

By the way, the new information contradicts past statements of insiders that Hyundai will refuse to continue the Sonata, replacing this model with a new electric sedan IONIQ 6.
