Seat Ateca 2021 after restyling — new body design, interior and updated internal combustion engines

Crossover Seat Ateca debuted 4 years ago, showed relatively good sales for the Italian division (90,000 units), which deserved the planned restyling.

It can be noted here that VW Tiguan sold 265,000 in circulation over the same period, but the Italian should make a discount, because this is the first SUV released under the Seat banner.

Technical stuffing

In fact, it makes no sense to review the Italian novelty, because in terms of technology, it really is a reworked Karoq.

The Seat Ateka 2021 is built on the same platform, with the same engine range, transmission and even body silhouette.

There are some nuances in the decor, but no more. Therefore, speaking about technology, we will have to remember what the Czech crossover could boast of.

Both models are built on the MQB modular trolley (the development of the parent brand). Suspension is a standard MacPherson pair at the front and a torsion bar at the rear.

Power steering — electric, disc brakes in a circle, front and four-wheel drive, depending on the configuration.

The range of engines and transmissions delight with a variety, ranging from «green» units, ending with 190-strong options:

1-liter turbotron with 110 hp and 115 hp. available as a pair of 5-speed manual transmission;

1.5-liter inline turbo four with 150 hp is paired with a DSG robot (again developed by VW) and can optionally be supplemented with all-wheel drive;

The most powerful 2-liter gasoline unit with in-line 4-cylinder architecture produces 190 hp. equipped with a robotic gearbox and an all-wheel drive transmission already in the basic configuration;

Two 2-liter turbo diesel engines with boost at 115 and 150 hp. initially offered with a robot, and all-wheel drive is optional.

As you can see, the 1.6-liter diesel is no longer offered. Also, there is no information about hybrid options, apparently they are not expected.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that, when paired with all-wheel drive, the electronics will delight with six driving modes, instead of four (Eco, Normal, Offroad, Sport, Snow and Individual).

Onboard equipment

The list of electronic assistants in Seat Ateca has grown slightly due to the new developments of the parent concern. Now on board the Italian (and the Czech too) you can find:

Adaptive cruise;
Light and rain sensors;
Heated and electric side mirrors;
Heated rear window;
Starting the engine from the button;
Steering column height adjustment + steering wheel heating;
6-position adjustment of the front seats + heating and ventilation;
6 airbags + curtains;
Front and rear parking sensors;
ABS, ESP, BAS, EBD, TCS, HAC, AFS and IPA systems.

As before, the Ateca will be offered in 4 trim levels.

Body, dimensions

The Italian will receive a new body designed for the Czech version, so nothing unites it with its predecessor. But, as already mentioned, the front is completely redesigned here.

The Italians gave preference to the triangular shapes of LED optics, other «touches» of foglights and a radiator grille. Also, the architecture of the overhang was slightly corrected.

At the rear, new light dimensions, a modified shape of the bumper and exhaust tips are similarly flashing.

Plus, the original Seat nameplates are naturally installed with the same font as that of the Leon branded hatch.

In terms of dimensions, there are slight deviations from the donor model in Ateka (we are talking about plus or minus 2-5 mm):

Also presented is a sports and off-road version of the cross, which put other bumpers, wheel arch edging, roof rails and additional enamels. Wheel rim diameters for all variants range from 17 to 19 inches.

But they were not too lazy to work on the salon. The Italian received an independent torpedo architecture with a driver orientation, a different configuration of the center console and tunnel, as well as new seats and a sofa.

At the same time, the internal volume is similar to the Czech one.

From the new, now there is a 10.25-inch virtual tidy (in the top-end configuration), a new multimedia with a 9.2-inch screen and support for mobile interfaces and revised finishing materials — not only plastic is used, but also metal elements plus leather instead of fabric.


Seat Ateca will continue to fight for a buyer with other representatives of its price category, who are, however, more independent.

The list includes Nissan Qashqai, Honda CR-V, Toyota C-HR, the same Skoda Karoq and Ford Kuga.

At the price tag, Europeans will be able to purchase a novelty for 1.8 million rubles for the basic configuration. The cost of the top version has not yet been announced.
