Drove sideways: Skoda Enyaq RS 2023 set a Guinness record for drifting.

Skoda has unveiled its all-electric Enyaq crossover and its «charged» version with an increase in RS in September 2020.

At the beginning of last year, the family was replenished with similar variants with a coupe-like body.

According to the Carsalesbase website, sales of the “green” SUV with a standard roof in Europe increased last year: in January-November (more recent data is not yet available), customers bought 44,199 copies (8% more).

The Czech brand, which is part of the Volkswagen concern, today announced that a “charged” electric crossover managed to set a Guinness record for drifting, or rather even two, but at the same time in one attempt.

The frozen lake Stortjarnen, which is located in Sweden, was chosen for the race.

To conduct the race, a circular track was laid on the ice of the lake, its length was 188.5 meters.

During the test attempt, the pilot of the Skoda Enyaq RS managed to drive sideways on it for 39 laps.

The total length of the continuous drift, which the electric crossover mastered, amounted to 7351 meters.

As told in Skoda, it took the pilot 15 minutes and 58 seconds to drive 39 laps sideways.

At the same time, the minimum speed was 31.64 km / h, and the maximum — 48.67 km / h.

To enhance the grip of the car on ice, the sports crossover was “shod” in front and rear studded Michelin Dackproffsen Nokian Hakkapelitta tires, otherwise the record holder has standard equipment.

Recall that the Skoda Enyaq RS is equipped with a twin-engine power plant (one electric motor on each axle), the total output of the system is 306 hp.

The “charged” SUV has a lowered sports suspension (ground clearance is reduced by 15 mm in front, and 10 mm in the rear).

The system includes a traction battery with a capacity of 82 kWh, the power reserve on a single charge is 460 km.

Acceleration from standstill to “hundreds” Enyaq RS takes 6.2 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h.

It should be noted that in the future, several “green” new products will appear in the Skoda model line: the Czech brand intends to introduce three electric cars by 2026.

It is assumed that the first in the trio will be the Elroq crossover (the name has not yet been confirmed), then the company will probably show a large SUV (it could be based on the Vision 7S concept), and then a compact SUV, the “twin” Cupra Urban Rebel, is expected.

The manufacturer allocated 5.6 billion euros for the development of these new products.
