Suzuki Swift 2020: review of the sports version with a hybrid.
The sports version of the Suzuki Swift was released 3 years ago at an auto show in Frankfurt. Recall that in 2017 hybrids and universal electrification were the lot of enthusiasts.

Now this is a universal trend that the Japanese cannot ignore, because a charged hatch is popular mainly in Western Europe.
So the 2020 generation switches to hybrid rails, receives a new engine, partially makes changes to the interior, and according to all the rules of the Sport class, it becomes easier.

The second generation Suzuki Swift Sport was shown in Tokyo in December 2019, but then there was no official presentation.

Visitors could see only new design solutions, which, by the way, are minimal. Now, the manufacturer apparently brought the restyling to the mind and shares those innovations that followed as a result of electrification.

Recall that as a trolley, Swift uses the proprietary Heartect design, which uses short connections of the power frame, MacPherson struts in front and a torsion tank in the back.

Ventilated brake discs are installed on the front axle, and “drums” are installed on the rear axle (brake discs are installed in sports versions).

Also, an electric power steering, rack and pinion steering, ABS and EBD are regularly installed on board. And the suspension itself has better components and revised settings.
As the transmission will be used 6-speed manual. Front wheel drive only. Complete will not be in principle.

Now for the hybrid. The Japanese clearly did not plan to create an electric car right away, limiting themselves to the so-called soft hybrid installation.

A 1.4-liter engine from Suzuki Vitara for 4 cylinders with a return of 127 hp was taken as a power unit. (It should be noted that the weight of the hatch is only 970 kg).
A starter-generator is also implemented in a traction battery, a bunch of which increases engine performance, allows you to gain speed faster and at the same time consume less fuel.

And the main goal pursued by Suzuki engineers was to reduce CO2 emissions to the level of compliance with the new EU eco-standards.
Here it is worth noting a few negative points. Firstly, fuel consumption has never been reduced.
1. Like the first generation, Swift Sport consumes 6.1 liters per hundred.
2. Secondly, the acceleration dynamics instead of acceleration, shows a second worse result — 9.1 seconds for the new generation, versus 8.1 for the old.
Maximum speed, as before 210 km / h.

So, in terms of electrification, the guys from Suzuki still have a lot of work to do, as the result shown clearly does not correspond to the level shown by competitors from Audi, Toyota, etc.

As for the rest of the equipment, the novelty should receive the same set as the premium equipment of the standard Swift, which this year also went for restyling.
But the leather interior is available only for a surcharge. Virtual tidy is not provided in principle, as is climate control.

There were no big changes on the body. As before, the sports version has a slightly modified shape of the grille, enlarged «nostrils» of diffusers with foglights, painted black roof racks and the presence of black sills on the sides, front and rear bumpers.

Otherwise, we are faced with such a compact, having its own personal recognizable style. True, Suzuki Swift has not gotten such sports features as such.

In the cabin, cardinal changes also did not happen. The Japanese company is still not going to follow global trends.

Therefore, lovers of minimalism, large touch screens and bright colors Swift will not like it.
Regarding the innovations, restyling of the charged hatch received only a new profile of sports seats and an improved audio system. Even the multimedia interface has remained unchanged.

Price and sales start date

It remains to add that the Japanese have an unreasonable rush. The sports hatch will go on sale in April in the Foggy Albion market, and a month later it will spread throughout Europe.
The price tag has not yet been announced, however, in Suzuki they do this all the time. Those wishing to buy a Japanese hatch should focus on the price within 1.22 million rubles.
