The U.S. automaker shipped nearly a million electric cars to its customers during the past year.

The number of electric cars handed over by the U.S. manufacturer Tesla reached the 936,172 mark last year.

This is almost twice as much as the previous record in 2020 with an indicator of 499 647 cars.

Such figures are given in the automaker’s report released today, January 2.

The increase in shipments of finished electric vehicles reached 87%. In the last quarter of last year, 308,600 electric cars were shipped to motorists. That’s almost a third of the total number of cars produced.

As a result, brand dealers were able to sell more cars than came off the assembly line during the year in the amount of 930,422 units.

Recall that Ilon Musk’s company has been on the market since 2003. Headquarters of the brand is located in the U.S. city of Palo Alto, California.

At first the company was engaged only in the assembly of electric vehicles, but then began producing solar panels and other energy storage systems.

In the middle of last fall, the company was valued at $1 trillion on the market.

The Tesla Model 3 will become the best-selling electric car in Europe, easily beating its competitors.

JATO Dynamics calculations show that 113,397 Model 3s were sold in Europe through the end of November this year. That’s an 84 percent increase over last year.

With those sales results, the Model 3 is ahead of the German VW ID.3 electric hatchback.

Moreover, in September, the American electric car was so popular in Europe that it actually became the best-selling car there.

Interestingly, the Model 3’s sales may be larger than the Model Y’s. This battery-powered parkcar also sold better than the VW ID.3 and ID.4 in November.

Tesla is likely to end the year with a total market share of 2 percent in Western Europe, more than double last year’s figure.

In doing so, the U.S. automaker will surpass Jaguar Land Rover.

In total, the share of electric car sales in Western Europe will reach 11 percent this year, partly due to a lack of semiconductors, Auto News writes.

Local analysts predict that Tesla is likely to finish the year with total sales of 170,000 electric cars.

The most productive electric car manufacturer in Europe for 2021 will be Volkswagen Group.

The German carmaker has sold about 300,000 electric cars in Europe this year under the VW, Audi, Skoda, Porsche and Cupra brands. Stellantis is expected to take third place and Renault-Nissan fourth.

The Dacia Spring proved particularly popular for the alliance, outpacing Model Y sales in November.
