The fastest Rimac Nevera 2022. The Rimac Nevera has become the world’s fastest production electric car, but there is a nuance.

Miro Zrncevic, test driver and head of testing at Croatian company Rimac, accelerated the 1,914-horsepower electric supercar Nevera to its nameplate top speed of 412 km/h.

The Rimac Nevera debuted last summer and has become one of the most powerful on-road production passenger cars: its four-engine powertrain produces a maximum 1914 hp and 2360 Nm.

There are even more powerful supercars in the world, the Lotus Evija has the most «horses» — 2039, but the top speed of the «Briton» is limited at 350 km/h.

The Nevera is ready to accelerate to 352 km/h in standby mode, i.e. at the first request of its owner, but the real «maximum speed» — 412 km/h — is reached only at special events under the supervision of Rimac specialists, provided that the weather is good and all necessary safety measures are observed.

It was under such conditions that the maximum speed at the wheel of the Nevera was achieved by test driver Miro Zrnčevič, the races took place on the ATP (Automotive Testing Papenburg) high-speed circuit in the German city of Papenburg (Lower Saxony).

Here in Lower Saxony, but at a different proving ground, which is located in the commune of Era-Lessin and belongs to Volkswagen, the 2019 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ gasoline car set the absolute speed record for production cars — 490 km/h.

What the Nevera and Chiron records have in common is that they were set unilaterally (when driven in one direction of the track), meaning that they are not generally recognized in the Anglo-Saxon world, where the average speed from two attempts made in different directions of the track within one hour is recorded as a record.

Under such rules, the absolute speed record now belongs to the American supercar SSC Tuatara — 455 km/h, while its absolute maximum is 460 km/h.

What prevented the Rimac team to repeat the race in the opposite direction is unknown (maybe there were some restrictions from the autodrome).

If the calculated maximum speed coincided with the actual speed, it indicates the highest level of engineering in Rimac, it would not be difficult to reproduce the record.

There shouldn’t be any worries about the battery running out either, since it takes only 19 minutes to charge it to 80% from a powerful 500 kilowatt terminal.

Maybe the terminal of such power is simply not available on the race track, that is, there was no possibility to conduct a session of two races within an hour.

The Rimac press release informs that the speed record was recorded with a Racelogic V-Box precision device based on GPS data, the car was fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R road tires, the video of the race is published on YouTube.
