The new Volkswagen Amarok 2023.

The new Volkswagen Amarok 2023, Ford’s brother: upright tablet, gasoline or diesel.

The production of pickups will be set up in the same place where the American «brother» Ford Ranger is produced — at the plant in South Africa. The novelty will be on sale on the European market in 2023.

Volkswagen earlier suggested that the Amarok pickup will not have a successor, but the company changed its mind and entrusted the development of the model of the second generation to American manufacturer Ford (as a part of the partnership agreement).

The technical «twin» of the Amarok, the third-generation Ford Ranger, was unveiled last November.

Т Now, after numerous teasers, short videos, and photos of prototypes in camouflage, it is the turn of the German brand’s debut.

As previously reported, the new Volkswagen Amarok has its own design, different from its «relative» from Ford.

The model has a different grille, it visually merges with the headlights of the original shape, connected by thin strips along the upper and lower edge of the headlights (for an extra fee customers will be offered matrix headlights IQ.Light Matrix).

In the front of the pickup you can see a large «X-shaped» element (it is made either «under the chrome» or unpainted plastic — depending on the version).

The VW’s profile is decorated with wide and massive wheel arches, and the stern has original «E-shaped» taillights, and on the hinged lid of the cargo area (with an electric drive) is visible large letters in the form of the model name and a large brand logo. Parking sensors are visible on the lower part of the bumper.

Compared to its predecessor the new Amarok has less overhangs (which should have a positive impact on its «all-terrain» capabilities), but the distance between the axles increased.

Thus, the length has grown up 96 mm (up to 5350 mm), while the wheelbase has increased by 173 mm (from 3270 mm in today’s model).

This allowed more legroom for passengers (it will affect those who sit in the back of the truck with a two-row cabin).

The depth of the ford was increased from 500 to 800 mm.

The second-generation pickup can tow up to 3,500 kg, and its maximum payload with the change of generation increased from 1000 to 1160 kg.

Carrying capacity of the roof of the new Volkswagen Amarok is 350 kg, which allows you to put on it four-man tent (available as an option).

The base version is equipped with 17-inch steel wheels, and the top versions received 21-inch light-alloy wheels.

The model received a new interior, its decoration and equipment level depends on the version — Amarok, Life, Style, Panamericana or Aventura.

On the front panel in the center there is a multimedia touchscreen. Its diagonal in simpler versions is 10 inches, in more expensive versions — 12 inches.

The system is a modified version of Ford Sync 4.

The display allows controlling the climate system, navigation system, various online services, parking assistant and settings of the car.

There are physical buttons under the central screen, and on the sides of it there are ventilation deflectors.

The «second» Amarok has also received an 8-inch virtual dashboard, a premium audio system and an expanded set of driver’s aids.

The motor range of VW Amarok next generation differs depending on the market.

It includes a gasoline and several diesel engines.

So, in the list there is a 2.0-liter TDI with 150 and 170 horsepower, as well as a twin-turbo TDI engine with the same displacement and output of 204 and 209 hp.

In the diesel range there is also a 3.0-liter V6 TDI with an output of 241 or 250 hp.

Also the pickup is available with a gasoline 302-horsepower turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine.

The trucks are offered with 5-speed and 6-speed gearboxes, and medium and above versions are equipped with 10ACP, which replaced the 8-speed automatic transmission.

All versions of the truck received 4Motion all-wheel drive system.

The production of the new Volkswagen Amarok will be set up by the end of the year at a factory in South Africa: pickups are already rolling off the assembly line of the Ford Ranger third generation.

Price of the German truck will be known later. Note that in one of the largest European markets, Germany, the price for this American «brother» starts at 30,790 euros.
