Toyota has updated the Mirai hydrogen car. Toyota has presented an updated version of the second-generation Mirai hydrogen sedan.

We are talking about a slight modernization that has affected the ergonomics, equipment and safety of the car, according to the press service of the Japanese brand.

In particular, there is a new widescreen HD multimedia display in the cabin, which now displays information in its entire width.

Among other things, the developers have improved sound alerts of regular navigation and replaced the front windows — now they protect the cabin from infrared radiation and have better sound absorbing properties.

The Japanese paid special attention to safety. The semiautopilot which is a part of Toyota Safety Sense complex, became even cleverer and learned to see «blind» zones of moving in passing direction of the neighbors in the stream.

Sales of the modernized Toyota Mirai have already started in Japan. The minimum price tag is 7,106,000 yen, or 3,620,000 rubles at the current exchange rate.

Recall that the second-generation Toyota Mirai has been on sale since December 2020. The sedan is built on the rear-wheel-drive TNGA GA-L platform, which is also the basis of the Lexus LC coupe and Lexus LS executive sedan.

Its length, width and height are 4,975, 1,885 and 1,470 millimeters, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2,920 millimeters.

Under the hood of the new Toyota Mirai there is an improved power plant, which combines more powerful than before electric motor with 174 hp and hydrogen fuel cell engine.

The sedan’s range has increased from 650 to 850 kilometers thanks to the installation of an additional hydrogen tank and increased permissible gas weight.

The Toyota Mirai has undergone a mid-lifecycle restyling.

Since the Toyota Mirai hit the market in 2014, the model has sold about 15,000 units worldwide, with most of the hydrogen cars sold in the United States.

Two years ago, the model stepped into its second generation, moved to the TNGA GA-L platform and became more technologically advanced.

With the current restyling Mirai further modernized and spot improved — for example, added toning, protecting the cabin from infrared radiation.

Another innovation is the expansion of the functionality of the semi-autopilot, which can now take into account the blind spots of cars moving in the stream in the opposite direction.

The power plant remains the same: the Mirai is powered by a fuel cell engine — hydrogen is converted into electricity by an electrochemical reaction, which feeds the traction motors.
