Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder 2023.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder crossover based on Suzuki Vitara was presented in India.

Presentation of Maruti Suzuki Brezza crossover of the second generation was held recently in India, and after that the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder was presented there.

We shall note that usual Urban Cruiser is already offered on the local market, but the model with prefix «Hyryder» is absolutely another.

It is still a variation of Suzuki Vitara, but much bigger and with original exterior design.

All external body panels are new here, though in proportions the auto reminds the same Vitara.

The base model is equipped with 17-inch steel wheels, halogen headlights and LED headlights.

But the more expensive versions have light-alloy wheels of the same diameter and full LED optics.

Plus it is easy to recognize them by two-color body coloring.

Interior of the crossover is five-seater, and a number of components from Maruti Suzuki’s Indian models are involved in its design (for example, climate control unit, separate buttons and steering wheel).

By default, the car has two airbags and multimedia with a 7.0-inch screen.

Senior equipment can boast a virtual dashboard, multimedia with a 9.0-inch touchscreen and a projection display.

Ventilation of front seats, all-around vision camera and panoramic roof will also please the driver and passengers.

Note that Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder 2023 is based on Suzuki Global C platform.

This «bogie» with semi-independent suspension is familiar to motorists from Vitara.

In comparison with the donor, the new crossover has a stretched wheelbase — 2 600 mm (+ 100). In length, the model reaches 4 365 mm (+ 190), width — 1 795 mm (+ 20), and height — 1 635 mm (+ 25).

The developers also borrowed the power structure and the base engine from Vitara — a 1,5-liter atmospheric Suzuki K15C.

The given unit gives out 102 hp (135 Nm) and by the default goes with 48-volt starter-generator, therefore developers name initial execution as «soft» hybrid.

This crossover can be ordered with either front or all-wheel drive.

The buyers of single-wheel drive cars can choose between five-speed manual or six-speed automatic, but the four-wheel drive versions will use manual transmission only.

In addition, the model can be ordered as a full hybrid. Its power plant repeats in many respects the same on the models Toyota Yaris and Yaris Cross.

In motion the car is led by a 1.5-liter petrol atmospheric engine M15A. It works on an economical Atkinson’s cycle.

Its geometric compression ratio is claimed to be 14:1, and thermal efficiency — 40%. The unit itself produces 92 hp (122 Nm), but it is also accompanied by an electric motor, developing 80 horsepower (141 Nm).

Total output of the unit is 115 horsepower. The hybrid is offered with front-wheel drive only and has a small capacity lithium-ion battery, with which it can travel up to 25 km without recharging. Recharging from an outlet is not provided.

In India, production of Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be set up at Toyota Kirloskar JV.

On the local market, the model should debut in August of the twenty-second, but its cost is not yet advertised.

The novelty will have to compete with such parkettes as the Hyundai Creta, KIA Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun, none of which can boast of a four-wheel drive.
