Volkswagen e-Up 2022 — 2023.

The Volkswagen e-Up electric hatchback has suddenly returned to the market.

In Europe, this German battery-powered model stopped being sold back in 2020. Now there is information that the automaker is going to revive the model.

The Volkswagen e-UP! compact electric hatchback went on sale in 2013.

Six years later, the model was equipped with a 32.3 kWh battery and a more powerful 83-hp electric motor.

The cheapest version in Europe was sold for about 22,000 euros, plus a subsidy from the government.

As a result, there were long lines for the new electric car: many people had to wait a year and a half for their Volkswagen e-UP!

But the rush in demand still did not help the electric car to stay in the model range of the brand: the automaker was not profitable to produce this model.

Moreover, preferences from the state should have been cancelled about now. However, at the end of 2021, the German government decided to extend the subsidies until the end of 2022.

Circumstances have changed, and the Volkswagen e-UP! is back on track. Except that the starting price will be higher — from 26,500 euros.

Moreover, clients of the brand did not notice a break in sales of the electric car: at this time, buyers received their cars in the order of the previously formed queue.

But to buy a car in 2021, it was no longer possible. How long the Volkswagen e-UP! will last on the assembly line, it is difficult to say. But the state support will definitely not play the last role in this.

European society is so concerned about the state of the environment that the automaker VW was literally forced to announce the return to the market of the electric car e-UP!

This small and affordable mini-electric car proved to be indispensable for city streets and has captivated consumers since its introduction. To date, Volkswagen has produced more than 80,000 vehicles.

Recall that the demand for the Volkswagen e-up! turned out to be so great that the automaker had to close applications for the electric car.

There wasn’t enough production capacity to cover it and deliveries began to be delayed by 16 months. That’s more than a year!

Throughout 2021, the automaker was processing old orders, which means that the annual limit on the production of the car was sold out in advance.

Because of this, the hatchback e-up! literally fell into short supply and disappeared from the Volkswagen dealer network for a while, so that European «green» car enthusiasts are seriously worried about the fate of the electric car.

But now the Volkswagen e-up! is returning to the European market. The automaker has opened an application process for the e-up!

First the car will be on the German market and later will be available in all EU countries. The price of the electric car is about 2.5 million rubles.

The budget mini-electric car in 2022 will go on the assembly line as standard with minor improvements to squeeze its main competitor Dacia Spring.
