The novelty is Volkswagen’s first coupe-like crossover on the MEB platform.

Volkswagen has unveiled the third model in its ID range, the electric crossover ID.5 and its «charged» version with GTX prefix.

The novelty will be offered with a 77-kilowatt-hour battery and three power plants to choose from.

The ID.5 is the first cross-coupe in Volkswagen’s lineup based on modular architecture.

At the same time, other brands belonging to the German concern already have models of a similar form factor on the same «bogie»: for example, Audi has the Q4 Sportback e-tron, and Skoda has the Enyaq Coupe iV.

The base ID.5 is equipped with a 174-horsepower electric motor installed on the rear axle.

This electric car accelerates to 100 kilometers per hour in 10.4 seconds and has a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

In the middle version, the power unit output is increased up to 204 horsepower, and in this case the acceleration up to a «hundred» takes 8.4 seconds.

The front-wheel-drive version has a range of 520 kilometers on the WLTP cycle, while the all-wheel-drive version has a range of 480 kilometers.

Volkswagen is preparing a large electric ID.8 crossover.

Already in entry level, the electric car is equipped with a 5.3-inch digital dashboard and a 12-inch multimedia system screen.

The equipment list includes a projection display, voice control, over-the-air software updates, and Travel Assist semi-autopilot and parking assistant.

The GTX version is complemented by a driving mode selection system with five settings and IQ.Light matrix headlights.

The cost of electric cross-coupe has not yet been announced, but we can assume that it will be a few thousand euros higher than the ID.4. For the latter are asked from 37,415 to 44,915 euros (3-3.7 million rubles at current exchange rates).
