Volkswagen has released a concept of the new ID.AERO sedan with great aerodynamics: the model will be released in 2023.

Volkswagen, which has successfully created many reference products, proved long ago that its success in China is no accident.

In an era of electrification, the German brand has high hopes for the launch of its first electric sedan.

This can be seen in the just-released Volkswagen ID.AERO 2023 concept car.

Dimensions of the novelty is 4975x1897x1528 mm, and the wheelbase is 2966 mm.

The ID.AERO has an aerodynamic drag coefficient of only 0.228, which also means that the sleek body design will provide the car with excellent energy efficiency.

Honeycomb-shaped openings at the front let more air in, improving aerodynamic performance.

The car’s proportions are larger than a traditional sedan, the roof is flatter, the waist lines are more elongated, and the dynamic 22-inch wheels set the sporty tone well for the entire car.

So coincidentally, the rear end design also adheres to the adopted concept.

In terms of color matching, ID.AERO uses gloss black treatment of the elements in the lower body as well as on the roof, which continues to enhance the coherence and fluidity of the body’s design.

A pre-production Volkswagen ID sedan is shown. Aero: electric successor to the Passat.

Volkswagen has shown a pre-production version of the electric sedan ID. Aero, which will become the sixth member of the ID family and will replace the outgoing Passat in the brand’s lineup.

Compared to the I.D. Vizzion concept shown in 2018, the four-door depicted in the photos is characterized by a higher elaboration of details and a minimum number of unusual elements (for example, it has traditional side mirrors).

At the same time the Germans kept luminous sensor panels instead of door handles. It is possible that this solution can be observed on the commercial version of the model.

According to the developers, the sedan can boast of well-thought-out aerodynamics, which is reflected in its name.

Cx ratio of the novelty is claimed to be 0.228. But there are no photos of the interior yet.

VW ID. The Aero 2023 is built on a modular platform MEB and is a very large sedan, exceeding the size of the same Passat.

Its length is 4,975 mm, width is 1,897 mm and height is 1,528 mm. Its wheelbase is 2 966 mm.

Germans don’t distribute technical features of the electric car yet.

It is known that its range will include both rear and all-wheel drive versions. The car will be equipped with 77 kWh of traction battery, which allows driving up to 620 kilometers (WLTP) without recharging.

First, the marketable VW ID. Aero will debut on the market in China. Test production of the model there is promised to establish before the end of the twenty-second, but the sales will start in the twenty-third.

Interestingly, on the local market will be presented two versions of the sedan, which will be assembled by different joint ventures, namely FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC-Volkswagen.

Well in the middle of 2023, production of the model will also launch in Europe — at a plant in the German Emden.

Cars assembled here will be sold both in the Old World, and in North America.
