Volkswagen ID. Life 2021. We have to wait a little longer: this offering will go into production in 2025.

At the Munich Motor Show, Volkswagen showed an entry-level electric car, the ID. Life.

It is based on a shortened version of the front-wheel drive MEB platform adapted specifically for urban compact cars.

The electric motor has impressive power, developing 234 hp (172 kW). (172 kW) and 290 Nm, which allows acceleration to a hundred in 6.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 180 km/h.

The 57 kWh battery has enough capacity for 400 km on the European WLTP cycle.

It supports fast charging, so another 160 km can be added in just 10 minutes.

Since these days, apparently, almost all cars must be crossovers (such is the preference of most), Volkswagen has added ID. Life some off-road features — impressive ground clearance of 190 millimeters, angles of approach and departure 26 and 37 degrees, respectively, payload of 1,285 liters (with all folded seats, except for the driver) and a fairly spacious cabin in spite of the compact dimensions.

In spite of the fact that the car is significantly shorter than the current Golf, its wheelbase of 2650 mm is even a little bigger.

The front trunk with a capacity of 68 liters holds a charging cable. Another curious storage solution — the door pocket can be used for wireless charging of smartphones.

THE ID. Life has no traditional side mirrors, instead using cameras to improve aerodynamics.

The interior mirror has also been replaced by a camera, and the footage can be viewed on a nine-inch multimedia display.

There is also a projection screen, complemented by a game console, however, not all of the listed functions will live up to the series.

The city-car will go into production in 2025, and it will cost 20,000 euros (1,730,000 rubles) for the base version and 25,000 euros (2,164,000 rubles) for the top version.
