Volkswagen launches sales of the updated Magotan sedan in China.

German car giant Volkswagen continues to update its lineup in China.

Next in line is the Magotan sedan. Details about the novelty are reported by the portal «New cars».

We should remind at once that the Magotan is essentially a Volkswagen Passat with a stretched wheelbase. The car has been specially created for China, as they love lengthened cars.

After the upgrade the sedan got a more sporty appearance due to the new shape of the grille and a larger air intake.

Also the filling of the headlights has changed, and the exhaust system is now with two spigots. The interior of the car with a large multimedia complex and digital dashboard has become more modern.

The driver can now benefit from the smart cruise control, 360-degree view cameras and automatic collision avoidance system.

The first buyers will receive their cars in October 2022, and the cost of the basic version is 1.6 million rubles.

The German concern Volkswagen has several models in China that are not available in other countries.

One of them is the Magotan, which uses the platform from the Passat. In fact, the first one was an extended version of the second one. Nevertheless, the 2023 Volkswagen Magotan has a number of unique design touches.

Especially since the car is now being prepared for release in a new version, which is already shown in the first photos.

The fact is that not only images of the sedan, but also some documents revealing its characteristics have appeared in the database of the Ministry of Industry of China.

The Volkswagen Magotan will get several variations, which can be distinguished visually. In particular, the published photos show the radiator grille in different variants, which allows you to emphasize the individuality of the model.

The wheels will also be available in several designs. So, the manufacturer offers both more simple in style and more complex options.

As for the overall, it is about the design of the sedan itself. The body of the car is characterized by smooth outlines that are characteristic of this class.

The sill line is highlighted by a chrome insert, and the door handles and mirrors retain the classic style. The rear bumper looks sporty and stylish.

The headlights are made large, giving the appearance masculine. The rear door remains the same, but the exhaust system is slightly changed.

At the bottom of the bumper are four neat pipes, framed in chrome. Dimensions of the sedan are showed in the documents. So, the length corresponds to 4866 mm, width and height — 1832 and 1479 mm. Wheelbase is 2 871 mm.

Volkswagen Magotan will be available in several variants. Thus, the sedan will be equipped with turbocharged units of 1.4 and 2.0 liters.

Power of motors is declared at the level of 150 and 186 horsepower, respectively. In addition, the car will be offered with a 220-horsepower engine.
