Volvo C40 Recharge 2022.

Volvo C40 Recharge 2022: a coupé-like electric SUV. Volvo has announced that by 2030 it will produce exclusively electric cars and to cement words with deeds, the Swedes immediately declassified the new C40 Recharge electric crossover.

The latter has a coupe-like body with a sloping roof, at the end of which two spoilers are installed at once. Plus another spoiler can be seen on the edge of the fifth door.

Also, the new Volvo C40 Recharge model features stylish “pixel” headlights with the signature Thor’s hammer pattern, while the taillights here have a much more whimsical design — their light elements go far into the fifth door.

The SUV interior also turned out to be unique in its own way. The fact is that we have before us the first model of the Swedish brand, for the decoration of which no leather was used at all.

The crossover is equipped with an Android-based infotainment system that previously debuted on the XC40 Recharge.

This complex was developed in conjunction with Google and has support for many applications and services of the Internet giant (for example, Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play Store).

The 2021 Volvo C40 Recharge is built on the same CMA platform as the XC40 Recharge, but is also the brand’s first car designed exclusively for electric driving.

The Swedish off-road vehicle is driven by two electric motors (one on each axle). In total, they give out 402 hp. (660 Nm), powered by a 78 kWh traction battery.

According to the developers, the latter is capable of providing a cruising range of 420 km (according to the WLTP cycle). From a fast charging station, you can top up your battery by 80% in just 40 minutes.

In addition, representatives of the Swedish automaker promise that further software updates «over the air» will further increase the range of the electric SUV.

Serial production of the Volvo C40 Recharge will begin in the fall of 2021. The cars will be produced at the Belgian plant in Ghent.

It is interesting that “live” cars will not appear in showrooms — it will be possible to buy a car exclusively in the brand’s online stores.

Volvo’s second modern electric car, as expected, was the C40 Recharge coupe based on the XC40 Recharge compact.

Their characteristics are the same: the output of the twin-engine unit is 408 hp, 660 N • m, the battery is endowed with a capacity of 78 kW • h, the power reserve reaches 420 km (WLTP), acceleration to a hundred lasts 4.9 s.

The fundamental difference is that the C40 is the first natural-born electric car in Volvo history, completely free of ICE versions, including hybrid ones.

Of course, the C40 differs from the XC40 in the «striking design» of the stern: with a lowered roofline, new lights, a tailgate, spoilers above and below it. “The new C40 Recharge represents the future of Volvo and shows where we are going,” says CTO Henrik Green.

The face is not devoid of originality. The C40 has different LED headlights (“with modern pixel technology”) and bumper.

Interestingly, the design of the model is based on concepts from the 2016 model.

The interior of the C40 Recharge had to be assembled bit by bit, although a photo of the XC40 could have been put.

Visible are digital instruments, a Sensus media center with an 8.7-inch display, a panoramic roof, and a front panel.

Production of the Volvo C40 Recharge will begin in the fall at the Belgian plant in Ghent, where the XC40 Recharge is manufactured.

Market debut date has not been set. By the way, today Volvo has made two important statements: by 2030 the brand will become purely electric, all its models will be sold only on the Internet.

Now in Germany, the XC40 electric car is offered only by subscription for 699 euros (62,300 rubles) per month.
