Volvo C40 Recharge 2023.

The Swedes have changed the electric Volvo XC40 Recharge from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive.

The Swedes have updated the electric Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge.

Exterior and interior of the modernized models remained unchanged, but the technical «stuffing» has undergone an upgrade.

So, if the earlier versions of the models were front-wheel drive, now they became rear-wheel drive.

Recall that the XC40 Recharge Single Motor appeared on the market in the fall of 1921, and the similar C40 Recharge debuted on the market after it.

These cars received installed on the front axle an electric motor with an output of 231 hp (330 Nm).

Now the Swedes decided to install the power unit in the rear, taking advantage of the flexibility of the CMA platform.

Rear-drive versions of the models received 238 hp and 330 Nm of torque.

The coupe C40 gets its energy from the old 69 kWh battery, though the range of the car became a little less — 408 km (- 7).

In turn, crossover XC40 has got a higher capacity battery — 73 kWh, but its range remains the same — 400 km.

Rear-wheel drive Parkettes accelerate from a place up to a hundred in the same 7.4 seconds.

But their maximum speed has increased up to 180 km/h (+20). And also rear-wheel drive Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge 2023 got Extended Range variant.

The latter has 252 horsepower (420 Nm) electric motor and 82 kWh of traction battery.

With this stuffing XC40 can travel up to 510 km, and the C40 — up to 520 km. Dynamic characteristics of the long-range versions are standard.

The capacity of its DC charger is claimed at 200 kW (base cars have 150 kW).

Note that the current update also affected all-wheel drive versions of the models — Twin Motor.

Previously these models had two identical engines in front and rear, each developing 204 hp (330 Nm).

Now the rear unit became more powerful — 245 hp (420 Nm), and the front one is weaker — 163 powers (250 Nm).

However, their total payoff remained at the same level — 408 horsepower, though the torque has grown a little — up to 670 Nm (+10).

The updated C40 Twin Motor is able to accelerate from a place up to a hundred in 4.7 seconds, and the XC40 Twin Motor — in 4.9 seconds. Maximum speed of both vehicles is 180 km/h.

They are now equipped with a traction battery with a capacity of 82 kWh (+ 4), while their range has increased significantly.

So, twin-engine XC40 can now drive up to 480 km, and the similar C40 — up to 500 km.

Earlier their range was 400 km. In Europe, taking orders for the updated vehicles has already started.

Crossover XC40 Recharge 2023 in a single-engine version costs at least 47,500 euros (3.2 million rubles at current exchange rate), that is, during the upgrade it rose in price by € 2,700 (180,000 rubles).

For its long-range version people ask already from €53,000 (3.5 million rubles), and the price list for all-wheel drive variant starts from €59,950 (4.0 million rubles).

The Swedes are asking at least €47,500 for the coupe-like C40 Recharge Single Motor, while its Extended Range version costs from €54,500 (3.6 million rubles) and two-engine variant — €66,000 (4.4 million rubles).
