Mercedes GLE 2023-2024.

The Germans have updated the entire line of Mercedes GLE crossovers: a minimum of external changes.

Mercedes-Benz has updated the entire family of second-generation GLE models at once.

The regular and coupe versions of the crossover, as well as their hybrid and “charged” AMG versions, have been restyled.

The developers did not radically change the appearance of the model, however, the cars of the family received a different front bumper and grille.

The headlights of the cars remained the same, but the Germans redesigned the shape of the DRL. If earlier the latter resembled double boomerangs, now they have a more complex composition of lines and dotted lines.

Interestingly, the base LED headlights and optional matrix headlights have different DRL patterns.

So, the first dotted lines have only two, while more expensive optics already have four.

As for the rear lights, they retained the usual shape of the cases, but their «stuffing» was revised.

By default, the regular Mercedes GLE 2023 has 19-inch wheels, and for a surcharge, you can order the AMG Line package with 21-inch rollers and an aggressive body kit.

Interestingly, the coupe crossover should now have this set from the factory. And the Germans expanded the color palette of the model.

The main novelty of the interior was the steering wheel with touch buttons, while the pre-reform cars have analog buttons.

By the way, cars with the AMG package have a branded «steering wheel» with double spokes.

The MBUX multimedia system, which was installed on the model, retained the 12.3-inch touchscreen, but was upgraded. She received an improved voice assistant and an over-the-air update function.

The climate control received the Energizing Air Control automatic air recirculation mode, and the so-called “transparent hood” was implemented with the help of all-round cameras.

Also, restyled cars received slightly different finishing materials, more advanced contour lighting and a revised decor with chrome trim for ventilation deflectors (previously the latter was an option).

The updated Mercedes GLE 2023-2024 still has a spring suspension in the base, but for a surcharge for crossovers of the family, you can order Airmatic air suspension or hydropneumatic E-Active Body Control.

Also among the options is the Off-Road Engineering Package, which implies an increased ground clearance of 30 mm and additional protection from below. Without exception, all versions of the model have a nine-speed automatic 9G-Tronic and branded all-wheel drive.

The Germans are proud to announce that the entire range of the updated Mercedes GLE is electrified: they have added a new generation 48-volt starter-alternator to all existing petrol and diesel versions of the model.

The latter is integrated into the gearbox and helps the internal combustion engine in the first seconds of acceleration, adding 20-22 hp to the return. and 200-250 Nm (depending on modification).

As part of the restyling, the characteristics of the gasoline versions of the model were revised.

So, the basic version of the GLE 350 with a 2.0-liter “turbo four”, although it retained power at the level of 258 hp, but its torque was increased to 400 Nm (+30).

In turn, the three-liter in-line “turbo-six” on the GLE 450 now produces 381 horsepower (+ 14), although its torque remains the same — at 500 Nm.

Well, the output of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 on the GLE 580 variant (modification for the American market) was brought up to 517 “mares” (+28) and 729 Nm of torque (+29).

The characteristics of the diesel versions were also changed, only the power of some of them was reduced rather than increased.

For example, a GLE 300 d with a 2.0-liter engine after an upgrade produces 269 hp. (- 3) and 550 Nm (no change).

The Germans completely abandoned the GLE 400 d with a 2.9-liter six-cylinder diesel engine.

At the same time, the motor itself migrated to a new modification 450 d and now produces 367 forces (+ 37) and 750 Nm (+ 50). As for rechargeable hybrids, they have been upgraded again.

The four-cylinder internal combustion engines he installed have become more powerful, although the traction motor built into the gearbox produces the same 136 hp. (440 Nm).

Specifically, the gasoline-electric GLE 350 e has been renamed the «GLE 400 e» due to the seriously increased power — it produces 381 horsepower (+ 48), although the torque is reduced to 600 Nm (- 100).

The diesel-electric GLE 350 de also became more powerful, but here the performance increase is not so noticeable — up to 333 «mare» (+13) and 750 Nm of torque (+50).

The traction battery of these hybrids remained with a capacity of 31.2 kWh. Power reserve on electric traction — up to 105-109 km (depending on modification).

The company does not cover changes in the dynamic characteristics of these machines.

It is known that cars for Europe still have a maximum speed limited to 250 km / h. But for the United States they received a more “strict collar” — up to 130 mph (209 km / h).

As for the most powerful AMG-versions, the company decided to refuse the GLE 63, while the variants GLE 53 and GLE 63 S got expanded equipment with a panoramic roof.

They already have recalibrated air suspension in base, and you can order with active stabilizers for a surcharge.

Plus, they are equipped with a new 48-volt starter generator. Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 has a 3.0-liter inline six with an increased turbocharger and an electric supercharger.

Its power is the former 435 hp, although the torque reaches 560 Nm (+ 40). From now on, the car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds (- 0.3).

Well, the flagship GLE 63 S is equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 with two turbines. The performance of the unit is 612 hp and 850 Nm.

Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is usual 3.8 seconds. Maximum speed in «charged» cars is limited at 250 and 280 km/h, respectively, and these figures are declared for Europe and the U.S.

The updated GLE has received an expanded set of electronic assists.

Thus, separately Germans mark the optional system Trailer Manoeuvring Assist, which is an autopilot for parking with a trailer.

It is interesting that this assistant can be purchased after purchasing the car — through the corresponding section of the multimedia system.

It works at speeds up to 5% and exclusively on roads with a slope not exceeding 15%.

Moreover, the crossover navigator learns to create routes, avoiding bottlenecks on the way, which can be useful while driving with a trailer.

At first the updated GLE will appear in the USA, as the model itself is produced here.

It should happen by the end of the spring of the twenty-third, but to the European dealers the cars will get only by July.

Now the prices for pre-reform crossovers start from 58,000 USD in the U.S. (4.1 million rubles at current exchange rate) and 76,000 EUR in Germany (5.8 million rubles), but restyled cars will definitely be a little more expensive.
