Mazda 2 2023.

The cheapest Mazda has been updated: design «for EV», but with a diesel engine.

The Japanese compact now has a “plug” on the front, although you can also choose a version with a traditional grille.

The technique is the same: at home, the “two” is available with gasoline and diesel engines.

The small Mazda 2 hatchback of the current generation has been in service since 2014, the first full-fledged restyling was carried out in 2019.

By the way, it was then that in Japan, native to the brand, the model switched to a global name (previously the hatch was called Demio there).

And here is another upgrade — such a “five-door” is so far presented only in the home market.

The hatch has been redesigned with a “face”: in place of the usual radiator grille, there is now a “stub”, like in electric cars (the grille itself has moved lower).

Depending on the version, this element can be black, white or body colour.

At the same time, the “sporty” options (15 Sport and XD Sport +) left the traditional grille (and it’s new).

The bumpers have also been replaced, plus the palette of colors and the range of discs have been expanded.

Options include a roof film (black or white), Rookie Drive and Clap Pop design packages (stickers, mirrors of a different color, a bright spoiler, etc.).

In the cabin, only finishing materials have become different; feature trim levels «under the sport» — red stitching.

The top-of-the-line 15 Sunlit Citrus comes standard with power seats, a heated leather steering wheel, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist.

The technology of the reform was not affected. By the way, in the homeland of the «five-door» is not electrified in any way — there is not even a hybrid appendage.

In Japan, the Mazda 2 hatchback is presented with a Skyactiv-G 1.5 petrol engine (110 or 116 hp) and a Skyactiv-D 1.5 diesel (105 hp), boxes — six-speed «mechanics» or «automatic». Drive forward or full.

Dealers are already taking orders for the facelifted Mazda2, with prices ranging from $11,800 to $19,500.

The start of «live» sales in Japan is scheduled for March. Later, the restyled «two» will reach other countries.

Recall that in some places Mazda 2 also happens in the form of a sedan. But in Europe, a completely different model is sold under this name: Mazda emblems were hung on Toyota Yaris.

In total, as many as 198 color combinations have been announced for the Mazda 2 2023-2024, but the possibilities for personalizing the interior are already noticeably more modest — you can only choose from contrasting stitching, as well as lining for the front panel and center console.

In general, the interior of the updated car remained the same. At the same time, there is a Sport version in the range of the model, which has a number of unique features.

In particular, such a hatchback retained the traditional grille grille.

Outside, it draws attention to itself with black decor, but the Japanese used a number of red accents to decorate its interior.

In technical terms, there are no changes, which means that in the home (Japanese) market, the Mazda 2 FL is still available either with a 1.5-liter gasoline aspirated engine with 110 hp. (116 forces — in the 15MB version), or with a 1.5-liter turbodiesel for 105 «mares».

The units work in conjunction with a six-speed manual or automatic. All-wheel drive is offered for a fee, but only for cars with automatic transmission.

Japanese dealers will have updated «twos» in March 23rd at a price of $11,800 (820,000 rubles at the current exchange rate). Then the sales geography of the model will be expanded.
