The fact that Tesla is preparing a new entry-level electric car, which will probably be called the Model 2, has been talked about for a long time.

The official presentation of this model should take place on the second of March.

But information about the future Tesla Model 2 in 2023 is still scarce. And the latest pictures bring with them even more questions about the car.

The electric car captured on them, covered with dense camouflage, is strikingly similar to the Mazda CX-30.

The similarity is emphasized by the compact size and smooth contours of the body with a shortened rear and elongated front parts.

Moreover, the front bumper and chrome finish of the aft racks look the same on the American and Japanese models.

But upon closer examination, it becomes clear that it is Model 2 that is captured in the photographs.

This is evidenced, in particular, by the taillights, designed in the style of Tesla models.

Wheel disks also emphasize the similarity with electric cars of the American brand.

Although the overall shape of the stern of the presented novelty also seems to be designed in the style of the CX-30.

Probably, this similarity is largely due to the need to improve the aerodynamics of the body of the Model 2, as this directly affects the range of the car.

It is likely that the American model will be a compact electric car, although it is difficult to make out its dimensions in the photographs.

Given the visual resemblance to the Mazda CX-30, we can assume that the Model 2 will be 4350-4400 mm long and 1800 mm high.

At the same time, the American novelty will have a relatively high ground clearance.

That is, it will appear in the form of a cross-hatch. It is expected that Model 2 will be equipped with a single electric motor.

Together with it, two types of batteries will be offered, providing a power reserve of 350 and 450-500 kilometers.

The full technical specifications of the Tesla Model 2 have not been disclosed, but it is known that the new generation of electric motors will appear on the hatch.

Their feature is the absence of rare earth metals in the design, which will make their production cheaper.

Expect the entry-level hatch to get a single powertrain that drives the front wheels, and it will be the most attractively priced version.

More expensive options will boast all-wheel drive, and among them a “charged” Performance version will definitely appear.

Batteries should also become more efficient — by about 16%. Accordingly, in order to save weight, the Model 2 can receive a battery with a lower capacity than the Model 3, but with a slight decrease in range.
