Officially: the Mazda CX-9 crossover leaves the market, despite high sales. The reason has been named.

Mazda, launching a new line of premium crossovers, said that the current SUVs will not leave the global market.

However, now the manufacturer has changed its point of view. The 2023 Mazda CX-9 is reported to be leaving the global market soon.

It is important that this model is one of the bestsellers of the Japanese brand.

Only in Australia last year it was bought over 82.5 thousand times.

And this is provided that, in general, sales of many Mazda models in the world have barely crossed the mark of 100,000 units (with the exception of only 2 cars).

Moreover, the Japanese company is not going to abandon other crossovers.

In particular, the CX-8 model will remain in the markets where it is currently presented. It is noteworthy that this crossover is, in fact, a smaller version of the CX-9.

Rejection of the latest model is due to the need to promote a new product line, including the CX-80 and CX-90.

Note that both crossovers are not a full-fledged replacement for the CX-9: they are at least a class higher.

According to the company’s management, such a reorientation will not affect its position in the global market.

That is, Mazda is confident that new crossovers will be in high demand, despite the fact that they are more expensive.

Representatives of the Japanese company noted that the recently debuted new products have many advantages that will attract the attention of a wide audience: sports performance, high performance, and more.

The CX-9 model will leave the global market at the end of the year. But the CX-8 will remain in showrooms so that Mazda has a car that can compete with inexpensive 7-seat crossovers.

However, given the intentions of the company, it is possible that this model will not leave the world market in the coming years.

In Russia, the Mazda CX-9 has become more affordable for a million rubles. Previously, the model was officially sold with us, but now it is imported through parallel imports.

Mazda CX-9 crossovers have become more affordable for more than a million rubles in Russia.

New off-road vehicles began to be imported to Russia under the parallel import scheme at the beginning of this year.

At the start of sales, the Russians were offered a model in the High Plus configuration, the cost of which was 5.5 million rubles.

Now, as noted by Autonews, dealers have the initial version of the CX-9 Entry, which is much cheaper — 4.19 million rubles.

In the starting Entry configuration, the Mazda CX-9 crossover is offered with the same 2.5-liter supercharged Skyactiv-G PY-VPTS engine, which produces 231 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque.

The list of equipment includes a rear-view camera, parking sensors, cruise control, power mirrors, a tire pressure monitoring system and other options.

Simultaneously with the arrival of the Entry-version in Russia, the cost of the High Plus package also dropped, which is still available from a number of dealers.

The price of such a CX-9 has dropped by almost half a million rubles compared to January, to 5,061,000 rubles.

There is also a top-end Executive package with adaptive cruise control, for which they ask for at least 6,311,000 rubles.

Mazda CX-9 was officially sold in Russia until the spring of 2022. The large crossover was produced at the facilities of a joint venture with Sollers in Vladivostok along with the Mazda6 and CX-5.

The last price tag, which was set by the Japanese company itself, ranged from 4,585,000 to 5,661,000 rubles.

In January, it became known that the Sollers company would restart the Far East plant.

On the conveyor from which Mazda descended, cars of a new brand will be delivered — which one has not yet been reported.

According to the governor of the region Oleg Kozhemyako, the production line will start operating in August 2023.
