Nissan X-Trail 2022: a classic crossover in a new design.
The Japanese concern Nissan continues to rely on its crossovers, despite the fact that the competition in this segment is great as nowhere else.

This time restyling will be given to the classic of the genre — the X-Trail model. The novelty has already been shown on the North American market, and very soon it is expected to appear in a number of European and Asian countries.

Nissan X-Trail 2022 looks noticeably fresher and tighter in appearance, the interior has received new useful options and got rid of obsolete ones, and the engine compartment characteristics are designed to help the car with a larger list of tasks than before.

Although its cost has grown compared to the previous generation, it remains reasonable, which will certainly contribute to the success of SUV sales in the markets of different regions of the world, including ours.


Even from the photo of the novelty, you can determine that the car has an authentic appearance and will stand out among the neighbors in the stream.

At the same time, the restyling both added new decorative elements to the X-Trail and harmonized all the previously existing decorations into a single integral composition that looks very organic.

The front end of the new model looks the most interesting. It is set high and rather long and wide. Everything begins here with a sloping windshield, turning into a massive bonnet with a raised central part, equipped with a smoothly transitioning relief.

Below is the arrow-shaped LED optics, in which the dipped beam is separated from the daytime running lights by a thin plastic body line.

Between them flaunts a huge trapezoidal radiator grille with a 3D-pattern and a massive chrome «support» at the bottom.

Below the body kit begins, consisting of side slots with slots for brake cooling, muscular relief transitions and a black-plastic trapezoidal insert in the lower part. This element ends with a powerful metal protective arch, painted in chrome.

The profile part of the Nissan X-Trail 2022 begins with a streamlined roof that slopes slightly towards the rear, on the upper edge of which there are subtle silver roof rails.

Immediately below them begins the austere figure of three windows, accentuated by a chrome strip on top and wide black-gloss dividing posts.

In front of the windows there is a rounded mirror on an elegant leg, and immediately below it smooth relief transitions begin, resting on huge circular wheel arches with a powerful protective layer and powerful sills with a decorative chrome trim rising to the rear.

At the rear, the new body looks tightened and slender due to a large visor rolling in height, as well as a massive brake signal repeater between it and the large glass of the fifth door placed almost vertically.

Below you can find the «stars» of LED side lights, several nameplates with information about the model, as well as a small number of embossed transitions with stamping under the license plate.

The body kit here consists of an upper, black-plastic with parking sensors, and a lower, silver-colored, parts.

The latter performs both decorative and protective functions. But the pipe of the exhaust system is practically invisible from under the body.

The interior of the new Nissan X-Trail 2022 model year will be quite dependent on the equipment. At the same time, even in the base, the car will receive decent finishing materials: plastic, leather, as well as metal inserts.

Control and management bodies

The dashboard of the car, while not large in appearance, contains a large number of physical keys combined with a large entertainment system screen that can be operated using both buttons and touch.

Directly below it is the air conditioning control unit. The rest of the space is occupied by graceful air ducts.

The central tunnel starts with connectors for connecting external sources of information, a small but nice technical panel and cup holders.

Underneath all this is a niche for storing small things. A little further away, you can find a massive armrest, inside of which there is another glove compartment that allows you to cool the contents.

The instrument cluster has analog gauges and a large on-board computer between them. Special attention should be paid to the steering wheel with a sports bevel at the bottom and a massive round center, around which there are additional control keys.

Seats and trunk

The car will have five seats, each containing a soft filler and trimmed with good leather. The front row will receive advanced lateral support, heating and mechanical or electrical position adjustments.

The rear sofa gives passengers the opportunity to slightly recline the back and install, in the absence of the central passenger, an armrest. Optionally, heating can also be provided here.

In the luggage compartment, you can fit almost 500 liters of luggage, but in the case of folding the back of the second row, this figure can be more than tripled!


In the base, the Nissan X-Trail 2022 will receive a two-liter 144-horsepower gasoline engine that can be paired with a six-speed manual or a CVT.

The top-end aspirated is a 2.5-liter unit, which already generates 172 forces. Well, a 1.6 turbodiesel will produce 130 «horses».

The last two units will come in conjunction only with a continuously variable variator. The drive on most modifications will be all-wheel drive, but some lower configurations will receive only front-wheel drive.

The undoubted advantages of the model include high ground clearance: as much as 210 millimeters! However, you should not abuse the off-road conditions on this car, since the variator and some suspension elements take it with difficulty.

But in the city and on the highway, the crossover feels like a fish in water: it accelerates well and consumes relatively little fuel, which was confirmed by a test drive.

Options and prices

Traditionally, the Japanese will delight motorists with a large number of trim levels. This time there will be eight of them.

The initial price will be 1.7 million rubles, while for the top-end one will need to pay 600 thousand more units of domestic currency.

Competing models

As already noted, the car has many competitors. The closest are Volkswagen Tiguan, Mazda CX-5, Mitsubishi Outlander, Toyota RAV4 and Kia Sportage.
