Bring a Trailer has launched a bid for the 2019 McLaren Senna supercar in the unique Merlin design. This two-door has a distinctive Sorcerer Black paint job, designed by Darren Towsend of McLaren Special Operations (MSO).

The Roadster will receive «some rocket technology» that will be included in an optional SpaceX sports package, named after Musk’s aerospace company, Musk said.

As it turned out, the package will not only improve the performance of the car, but also add a real flight function — if, of course, the developers cope with Musk’s instructions. In this case, the Roadster will be lifted into the air by small rocket boosters operating on compressed cold gas.

“I’m trying to figure out how to make this thing float without killing people,” Musk said.

For safety reasons, the car will be able to take off only 1-1.8 meters (the businessman has not yet decided on the height). In this case, in the event of a sudden failure in the engines, Tesla will fall and damage only the suspension, and the passengers will remain intact.
