Back to the roots: the production MG Cyberster roadster will be shown in April.
The British brand MG wants to return to the production of sports cars.
The first full-fledged sports car in MG’s recent history will be an electric roadster, its development is almost completed, it will premiere in April 2023, sales will begin in the first half of 2024.
In the form of a concept MG Cyberster shown in April last year, then the British brand, since 2005 owned by Chinese concern SAIC, noted strong sales growth in key markets (China, Europe, India) and wanted to consolidate this success new sports car.
Under the wing of SAIC MG brand now produces mainly all kinds of consumer goods (crossovers, sedans, hatchbacks, station wagons), but for the past couple of years clearly marked sport vector of development, there were powerful and aggressive-looking novelties like the MG 7 liftback, and the Cyberster roadster will be the flagship of this direction.
According to British magazine Autocar, the premiere of serial Cyberster was supposed to take place in the second half of November at the Motor Show in Guangzhou, but now in China there is another outbreak of COVID-19 with all the quarantine restrictions and MG decided to insure — the premiere roadster moved to April next year.
