Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport 2024. The American VW Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport have been updated on the model of the Chinese Teramont.

At the Chicago Auto Show 2023, the premiere of the updated seven-seat Volkswagen Atlas crossover and its shortened five-seat Atlas Cross Sport variant took place.

Note that the three-row Atlas debuted in the North American market in 2017. For him, this is the second restyling (the first was in two thousand and twenty).

But the two-row Atlas Cross Sport was launched into the series later than the main model and was updated for the first time.

One way or another, both SUVs received a revised exterior design, with the main changes occurring on the front of the body.

The cars have larger headlights, which are now united by an LED jumper, in the center of which there is a glowing VW logo.

This design decision is required for all configurations (with the exception of the most basic versions).

The new head optics are closely adjacent to the radiator grill, which also became larger during restyling. Plus, the Germans revised the shape of the side air intakes of the front bumper.

All this made the crossovers look like the «Chinese» Teramont and Teramont X. In profile, they have not changed much, although new wheels with a diameter of 18 to 21 inches have become available for them.

Behind it is worth noting the appearance of a chrome bar and visually interconnected lights. Like the front, there is a luminous strip with the VW logo, but again, not for all trim levels.

And both updated SUVs received enlarged spoilers, and specifically Atlas Cross Sport got a more noticeable rear diffuser.

Note that the published photos show the cars in the flagship configuration R-Line.

They have 21-inch alloy wheels, sporty décor, four tailpipes and R-badges.

In the interior of the 2024 model year crossovers, there are even more changes. In particular, the Germans revised the design of the front panel and the ventilation deflectors placed on it.

Both Atlases in the base have a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster and a separately located 12.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system.

But the projection display is available for a fee. On the passenger side, a luminous inscription appeared on the panel with the name of the model. It is synchronized with ambient lighting (30 colors).

The list of basic interior equipment also includes ventilation of the front seats, a heated steering wheel, Climatronic three-zone climate control, as well as wireless charging and six USB-C ports.

Older versions boast quilted leather trim with diamond stitching.

The climate control unit has been noticeably simplified and is now a strip of touch buttons.

The main settings are carried out through the multimedia menu. Plus, the buttons on the steering wheel became touch-sensitive.

And the models received a miniature automatic transmission selector. It does not have a mechanical connection with the gearbox, while its use made it possible to carve out a place for an additional shelf at the bottom of the central tunnel.

As for technology, the 2024 VW Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport have lost the 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine.

From now on, only the new 2.0-liter TSI turbo four is available for seven- and five-seater crossovers, which produces 273 hp. (370 Nm).

The increase in power compared to the previous similar unit amounted to 34 forces.

Thus, the new engine turned out to be only 7 «mares» weaker than the mentioned VR6, and its torque is completely higher.

The Germans do not advertise the dynamic characteristics of crossovers, but note that they have become more productive and more economical.

And the machines are now able to tow trailers weighing up to 2,268 kg.

The motor works in conjunction with an uncontested eight-speed automatic.

By default, both SUVs are front-wheel drive, and the 4Motion all-wheel drive system is available as an option for certain trim levels.

The updated models are equipped with an advanced set of electronic assistants with an entry-level autopilot.

Adaptive cruise control is offered for a surcharge. Restyled cars should appear at American dealers at the beginning of the third quarter of 2023.

Prices will be announced closer to this date. Now for a seven-seater crossover they are asking for at least $35,150 (2.6 million rubles at the current exchange rate), and for a five-seater — from 34,460 (2.5 million rubles).
