On August 31, 2023, the official premiere of the new generation Volkswagen Passat took place at the IAA Mobility car show in Munich.
The car will go on sale in the first quarter of 2024.
The new Passat was the first model of the Volkswagen Group built on the basis of the MQB Evo platform.
The car will be presented only in the station wagon. The engine range of the new Passat includes 5 petrol and diesel options, as well as 3 hybrid versions: two with a plug-in hybrid drive and one with a mild hybrid.
The power of plug-in hybrid modifications will be 204 and 272 hp.
They are equipped with a battery with a capacity of 19.7 kWh, the range on electric traction reaches 100 km.
The eTSI mild hybrid version will develop 150 hp. Also available are 2 2.0L petrol engines with 204 and 265 hp. and 3 turbodiesels 2.0 l with a capacity of 122, 150 and 193 hp.
The gearbox for all versions is a robotic DSG. The drive can be front or full.
The interior of the new Passat features an updated interior with a large central display.
Armchairs are equipped with a pneumomassage function. So far, the manufacturer has not named prices for the new Passat and the exact date of the start of sales.
These details will be revealed closer to the start of sales in early 2024.
The Volkswagen Passat, a model that has sold more than 30 million units since its introduction to the market exactly half a century ago, has stepped into a new, ninth generation.
There are several fundamental changes: firstly, the development was entrusted to Skoda, and secondly, the Passat production was transferred from Germany to Slovakia.
Now it will be produced at the same plant with the platform Superb, and thirdly, from now on the model has only one body type — station wagon.

Passat has been transformed inside and out: straight lines are a thing of the past, giving way to smoother outlines, and the interior has been digitalized.
The central place on the front panel is occupied by a 15-inch tablet, but it is available only in top trim levels, while simpler versions have a 12.9-inch screen.
The dashboard is purely digital, with three graphic styles to choose from. But the touch buttons on the steering wheel, which annoy the owners of the eighth generation Golf, Passat did not get.
Finally, the right stalk is now responsible for shifting gears.
The start of sales of the ninth generation Volkswagen Passat in Europe is scheduled for spring 2024.
The model will be sold in parallel with the electric ID.7, which, unlike the fuel Passat, is available not only as a station wagon, but also as a sedan.
