Volvo EM90 2024.

The Volvo EM90 minivan was revealed ahead of schedule: the model was made from “Chinese”.

As expected, the donor for the Volvo van was Zeekr 009. And the Zeekr brand is owned by the Geely Auto holding, which also owns the Swedish brand. The MPV premiere will take place in a month.

The Volvo EM90 minivan was officially announced at the end of August, and the first teasers were published at the same time.

In September, new “fragmentary” pictures were posted online. Well, now full-fledged photographs and main characteristics have appeared, they were leaked by the Chinese Ministry of Industry.

Let us remind you that the Volvo van is an electric car, because the Swedish brand will no longer make “non-green” new models. And it is China that will become the main — if not the only — market for MPVs.

EM90, as expected, turned out to be the brother of the Zeekr 009 electric van, which launched in the Middle Kingdom last year (the Volvo and Zeekr brands belong to Geely).

At the same time, the Volvo model still has its own exterior design. So, in place of the radiator grille there is an original plug with many holes, in which LEDs are obviously built-in.

In addition, the Volvo EM90 got “pixelated” T-shaped running lights, different main headlight units (vertical instead of horizontal in the Zeekr 009), different front bumper and rear lights.

Electric minivans are built on the SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform with air suspension; variations of this “cart” also underlie the Polestar 4 and Polestar 5 models, the new Smarts and the Volvo EX30 electrocross.

The length of the Volvo EM90 is 5206 mm, which is only 3 mm less than the Zeekr 009. The height is 1859 mm, and this is a symbolic 1 mm more than the top-end “nine” (the Zeekr model also has a version with a height of 1848 mm).

The width and wheelbase of the cars are the same — 2024 and 3205 mm, respectively. Both minivans come with 19- or 20-inch wheels.

There are no separate photos of the interior yet. It is known that, like the Zeekr 009, the Volvo model will be offered in a six-seater version — with two seats in the second row.

In general, the Swedish brand promises a salon similar to a Scandinavian-style living room.

The Volvo EM90 certificate indicates one electric motor, it is the same as its brother: with an output of 272 hp.

But the Zeekr 009 is all-wheel drive by default, that is, it has a dual-motor unit with a total power of 544 hp.

Most likely, the EM90 will also have all-wheel drive as standard. There are no batteries in the documents of the Ministry of Industry.

They will probably also switch from the “nine”: these are batteries with a capacity of 116 or 140 kWh.

In the first case, the range of Zeekr 009 is 702 km (according to the Chinese CLTC cycle), in the second — 822 km.

The world premiere of the Volvo EM90 is scheduled for November 12. It is possible that due to the leak, even before the presentation, the brand itself will share full-length pictures of the electric van.
