BYD Song L 2023.

BYD Song L: a spectacular Chinese cross-coupe in the style of the KIA EV6.

One of the premieres of the Shanghai Auto Show 2023 was the electric coupe-shaped crossover BYD Song L.

The model received its name in honor of the Song Dynasty, which ruled eastern China from 960 to 1279.

In profile, the presented cross-coupe quite closely resembles the KIA EV6, and the similarity with the “Korean” is also facilitated by the blackened front roof pillars.

In turn, the front part of the car is memorable for its aggressive bumper with massive side air intakes.

There is also an illuminated radiator grille and narrow headlights with noticeable vertical marks (like on BYD Han).

The design of the stern is somewhat reminiscent of the Porsche Caeynne Coupe. Mostly due to the similar shape of the LED lights, made in the form of a single strip.

At the rear of the new 2023 BYD Song L there are two spoilers — on the lid and the trunk lid, the latter being active (retracts automatically if necessary).

The bumper at the stern comes with vertical ventilation slots on the sides, plus there is a massive diffuser installed here, which has a decorative “carbon” insert.

Among other features of the BYD Song L, it is worth noting cameras instead of external flickers and “recessed” door handles.

Its interior is designed in a minimalist style and has an unusual steering wheel with “double-deck” spokes and analogue keys located on them.

There are separately located displays of the virtual instrument panel and multimedia system.

On the central tunnel there is again a block of physical keys (around the large gear selector knob).

The BYD Song L 2023 crossover is built on the basis of the e-platform 3.0 “trolley”, on which many other electric cars of the brand are based.

Buyers will be offered the model in two different modifications.

The rear-wheel drive single-engine version has a performance of 313 hp, and the all-wheel drive dual-engine version produces 517 hp.

For these cars, traction batteries with a capacity of 71 or 82 kWh are available.

Depending on the specific specification, the range of the electric SUV varies from 550 to 662 km.

The start of car sales on the Chinese market is scheduled for the fourth quarter of twenty-three.

The exact price tag has not yet been advertised, but presumably the car will cost at least 250,000 yuan (3,380,000 rubles at the current exchange rate). This is how much the basic rear-wheel drive version will cost.
