Acura ZDX 2024.

Acura revealed a new crossover: official «spy» photos of ZDX.

The production version of the Japanese brand’s first fully electric parketta and its «charged» Type S variant are scheduled to debut next year.

The Acura brand is going to completely switch to electric cars in the U.S. closer to 2040.

Thus, according to the manufacturer’s plans, the share of «green» cars should account for about 50% of the total sales structure on the U.S. market already by 2030.

The first «electric» Acura will be a crossover ZDX which is under development now.

In August the manufacturer showed the predecessor of the future crossover — the concept Precision EV (in translation from English «accuracy», «marksmanship»).

During the presentation, the company noted that this prototype is intended to demonstrate «the future of Acura design.»

Later it became known that the serial parketts will receive already familiar to fans of the brand name ZDX — so called the medium-sized crossover with a sloping roof, which was produced from 2009 to 2013.

The new Acura ZDX is created as part of a partnership between Honda and General Motors.

While the company keeps secret appearance of commercial «green» SUV, which will be based on the concept Precision EV.

However, today the manufacturer decided to splurge on the first official «spy» photos of the pre-production prototype of the future novelty, which were made during tests on public roads.

The automobile in photos is hidden behind a camouflage film: according to a drawing, the «charged» version of the future crossover ZDX with an addition Type S to the name is hidden under it.

Judging by the photo, the production electric Acura will have a traditional roof, short overhangs, flat plug on the place of the grille, a rather large air intake integrated into the bottom of the front bumper, as well as the usual side mirrors (the forerunner in their place were small rear view cameras).

The optics, obviously, are still far from the production one. The design of a new «electric crossover» ZDX is being developed in Acura’s studio, which is located in Southern California (USA).

GM’s BEV3 Ultium platform will form the basis. Its closest «relative» will be the Honda Prologue, which was partially declassified in October this year (though, official data on the «stuffing» of the car is still not available).

So far, Acura has not shared information about the ZDX and ZDX Type S. Presumably, it can be borrowed from GM’s crossovers Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq.

By the way, it is possible that the ZDX Type S will have the same twin-engine power plant that the Blazer EV SS has: its output is 565 hp and maximum torque is 878 Nm.

Presentation of the serial version of the first completely electric parketank of Japanese brand and its «charged» Type S variant will take place next year.

It is expected that the model will be on sale in the U.S. market in 2024.
