A prototype of the updated 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has been spotted on tests.

Western publications have published photos with a test prototype of the updated BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.

The novelty of the 2025 model year was completely covered with camouflage film and received an exhaust system with four tailpipes.

Just yesterday we shared pictures of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, and now we present an early look at its «little brother».

While the Quartet will face a mid-cycle facelift for the current generation of the model, this compact sedan is moving into its second generation.

This is despite the fact that the 2 Series Gran Coupe did not receive a Life Cycle Impulse (LCI) version.

Like the 1 Series hatchback, its sedan sibling moves straight to the next generation.

The prototype appears to be wearing a fully stock body and the latest headlights, as well as two-tone wheels and blue brake calipers hiding the M logo.

While the grille looks a little odd due to the camouflage, it’s the rear that caught our eye as it has a quad exhaust.

Like the recently introduced X1 M35i, the M Performance variant of the upcoming 2 Series Gran Coupe will get four tips, which will also be fitted to the next M135i and X2 M35i.

Rumor has it that the «i» will be dropped from the names of these upcoming models, so expect this sporty compact sedan to be called the «M235 xDrive».

Despite the move to a second generation, it looks like the «new» 2 Series Gran Coupe will be more of a facelift than a complete redesign. The Mercedes CLA competitor, codenamed «F74», is getting sportier side mirrors that were reserved for full-size M models a couple of years ago.

Unlike its older brother the 4 GC with its more practical liftback bodywork, the 2 GC is likely to remain a traditional sedan. The trunk lid boasts a sporty spoiler, probably exclusive to the M Performance version.

Interestingly, BMW has applied additional camouflage to the Hofmeister kink, while the dashboard remains hidden under a piece of black fabric.

However, we can see the outline of a dual-screen setup, presumably iDrive 9, which is already being installed in newly built X1 crossovers.
