Crossover Jaecoo J7 from Chery for Russia: the first information.

The SUV will enter our market next month, it will become the first-born of the next brand of the Chinese company.

The world premiere of a separate global brand Jaecoo (in today’s Russian-language release they insist on the pronunciation of “jake”) was held by Chery last April as part of the Shanghai Motor Show.

And even before the presentation, they officially announced that the brand would appear in Russia, and in our country it would be positioned as a “senior offshoot” of another Chery sub-brand, Omoda.

So now the timing of the launch of Jaecoo in the Russian Federation has become known: sales will begin in September, the first-born will be a crossover, which we have received the J7 index (in some countries it is simply declared as Jaecoo 7).

Along the way, branded photos of a model intended for the Russian market were published.

Recall that the Jaecoo J7 is an upgraded version of the cross, which in native China will be sold as the Chery Explore 06 (previously known under the internal index TJ-1).

But if in the Celestial Empire the parent company’s SUV debuts in an “off-road” version with massive bumpers and an impressive radiator grille, then the Jaecoo SUV has a more “restrained” design.

The exterior features of the “seven” are a grille with vertical wedges, a three-tier head optics (diode running lights with “pixel” sections are located on top), a “floating” roof, retractable door handles and taillights made in the form of a single die.

The dimensions of our crossover have not been revealed yet. The length of the “off-road” Chery Explore 06 is 4538 mm, the width is 1898 mm, the height is 1680 mm, the wheelbase is 2672 mm.

By the way, the crossover Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, well known to Russians, has a distance between the axles of only 2 mm less, that is, the models are probably unified. Passport ground clearance Explore 06 — 200 mm.

Inside Jaecoo J7 — a compact virtual tidy and multimedia system with a vertical tablet with a diagonal of 14.8 inches (multimedia — with a Qualcomm 8155 chip).

Also, a projection display was promised to the Russian crossover. The rest of the equipment will be discussed later.

There is still no data on the Jaecoo J7 equipment for the Russian Federation either, at the local Omoda office (recall that it is this division that is responsible for Jaecoo sales in our country) they only noted that the cross “has impeccable off-road performance”.

The related Chery Explore 06 SUV is equipped with a 1.6 TGDI petrol turbo four, which produces 197 hp in China. and 290 Nm, the engine is paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. For the Chery model, all-wheel drive is provided.

More details about the Jaecoo J7 will appear closer to the launch date. Meanwhile, the Russian website of the new sub-brand (jaecoo.ru) has already been launched, and social media accounts have also been launched.

As it was reported in the spring, the brand’s cars are going to be sold in 120 showrooms in Russia: 100 dealerships will unite Omoda and Jaecoo models, and another 20 showrooms will be independent.

Note that the second Jaecoo model, the Jaecoo 9 crossover, that is, Chery Tiggo 9 with a different logo, has already been spotted in some places.

But for Russia, this SUV to Jake has not yet been officially confirmed.
