Geely Izera 2026.

The Polish Izera, aimed at competing with Skoda, will use the Geely platform.

The young Polish car company ElectroMobility Poland, operating under the brand name Izera, has chosen a platform for its future electric cars — it will be the multi-faceted Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) of the Chinese Geely holding.

The Izera brand (named after the Jizera Mountains on the border of Poland and the Czech Republic) was introduced in the summer of 2020.

Behind it is ElectroMobility Poland (EMP), a joint venture founded in 2016 by Polish energy companies PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA, Energa SA, Enea SA and Tauron Polska Energia SA.

Izera will produce high-quality, affordable and practical electric cars, the closest counterpart in the European market is the Czech Skoda (owned by Volkswagen).

Two prototypes of future models were shown at the presentation of the Izera brand.

This is a compact crossover (known under the codename Z100) and a compact hatchback (T100).

Their design was developed by the Italian studio Torino Design. The German-Swiss company EDAG Engineering was responsible for the design.

Izera immediately announced that the platform of its electric cars will be purchased, the EMP was in talks with many potential suppliers, including Volkswagen, Toyota and Hyundai.

But in the end it opted for Geely and the SEA platform — yesterday it was officially announced that it had signed a license agreement, with the news coming via Geely.

The message says that the first in the series will go crossover, then it will join the conveyor hatchback and station wagon.

The last one has not been announced yet. Then several new Izera models will be designed on the SEA platform.

Production of the Izera electric cars will be done at Izera’s own plant, the construction of which was announced at the end of 2020, its launch scheduled for 2024.

The plant is being built in the Polish city of Jaworzno, which is close to the Czech-Slovak border and is also part of the Katowice Special Economic Zone, which is literally packed with automotive component manufacturers — from Brembo to ZF.

The Izera website has no new technical information about its upcoming models, but there is a section with a «bogie» SEA, the targets are slightly adjusted.

It says now that Izera electric cars will be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds (they were promised 8 seconds before) and range on a single charge will exceed 400 km on the cycle WLTP — quite decent figures for a low-cost family electric car.

The equipment promises state-of-the-art electronic driver’s assistants, which are necessary for obtaining a high Euro NCAP rating.

We should add that the SEA platform was introduced by Geely in 2020 in conjunction with the freshly minted premium brand Zeekr.

And today, besides Zeekr, brands Jidu, Radar, smart, Polestar, Volvo and even Lotus have novelties on this platform (according to rumors, the crossover Lotus Eletre is based on the sports version of SEA-S platform, which Lotus for marketing purposes calls Lotus Electric Premium Architecture).

SEA platform is very flexible, it is designed for cars with wheelbase from 1800 to 3300 mm, and any type of drive (front, rear, all-wheel drive).

In general, Geely can be congratulated: the Chinese holding is successfully and deeply integrated into the European car industry.

Last week, Geely and Renault Group announced the creation of a giant motor joint venture that could become the world’s largest producer of internal combustion engines and hybrid powertrains.
