The world premiere of the new compact cross-country Honda Elevate took place in India — this country will become the debut market for the model, and production will also be launched there.

This model will be sold in the Indian market, although its appearance in other countries is not excluded.

The novelty is positioned as a car for emerging markets.

The crossover is compact in size: with a length of 4312 mm, the distance between the wheel axles reaches 2650 mm (photo: Honda).

The novelty is equipped with a single naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine, the maximum output of which does not exceed 121 hp, torque — 145 N * m.

Four-wheel drive is not available to the crossover, so the “mechanics” at 6 speeds or the CVT transfer all traction to the front wheels.

However, the five-door will still not be a local exclusive: the SUV is officially declared global, although the list of countries where Indian-assembled cars will appear has not yet been announced.

However, it will certainly be emerging markets.

The Elevate is based on a platform designated by Honda as the Global Small Car: for example, the “global” HR-V crossover and the City family (sedan and hatchback) are built on the same “trolley”.

True, in the case of the new SUV, we are most likely talking about the simplest version.

Passport ground clearance is an impressive 220 mm versus 190 mm for the current Indian Crete.

Appearance turned out without frills. The crossover has a flat “nose” with a large octagonal grille, fog lights are placed in massive black cases, a chrome insert covers the headlights, and a die (but it does not glow) unites the taillights.

The model has 17-inch wheels.

Inside, there is a multimedia system touchscreen that rises above the front panel (expensive versions have a 10.25-inch tablet), and there is a 7-inch color display in the tidy.

At the same time, over the next three years, Honda intends to electrify the Elevate — hybrid and, possibly, purely «green» versions are on the way.

In India, orders will begin to be accepted in July, at the same time prices should be announced.

By the way, Honda Elevate will be the first of five brand new brand SUVs for the Indian market: the remaining crosses will be gradually launched over seven years.

Prices for the novelty have not yet been announced, but it is already known that it will be relatively inexpensive.

Despite the foregoing, the crossover is equipped with an adaptive speed control system, six airbags, a 10.25-inch multimedia touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and other options.
