Ferrari SF90 XX: extreme version of the supercar from the XX division of the Italian brand.

Ferrari has unveiled the first road model developed under the company’s XX program. Previously, the latter was used exclusively to create track cars.

Interestingly, the novelty called «Ferrari SF90 XX» debuted in two body types at once: the SF90 XX Stradale is a classic coupe, and the SF90 XX Spider is its open version.

The design of the model was the responsibility of the specialists of the Ferrari Design Center, headed by Flavio Manzoni, while the work on the technique was entrusted directly to the engineers of the XX division.

The bodywork of the base Ferrari SF90 has been seriously redesigned to increase downforce. As a result, almost no external panel remained from the donor.

Specifically, in front, the supercar attracts attention with an enlarged splitter, due to which, at maximum speed, downforce on the front axle reaches 325 kg.

The Italians also changed the configuration of the bottom and provided air vents above the wheel arches.

The rear of the car has changed the most, where traditional lights have given way to a single light strip. Also here appeared a massive wing on openwork pylons.

SF90 XX Stradale coupe and SF90 XX Spider open variant presented. As reported, now those wishing to purchase a car can place a pre-order.

Despite the fact that this is a road version, it has pronounced sporty notes in appearance.

The body is made taking into account aerodynamic performance. A fairly large splitter is installed ahead, and the air intakes have become wider.

In addition, the wheel arches were supplemented with air outlets. At the rear, a massive rear wing catches the eye. The performance of the Ferrari SF90 XX is impressive.

It is available with a hybrid setup based on a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine. Power is declared at the level of 797 horsepower. There is also a more powerful version of a three-engine unit with 233 hp.

The transmission is represented by an 8-speed «automatic». The battery has a capacity of 7.9 kWh. It is reported that the coupe will be produced in a circulation of 799 units, and the open version — 599.

The last time such a component could be seen on the road Ferraris of the 1990s, namely the F50. The wing itself is fixed here. At a speed of 250 km / h, it generates 315 kg of downforce.

The Ferrari SF90 XX Spider retained the aluminum roof panel from the standard production model. At speeds up to 45 km/h, it can be folded in 14 seconds.

The body kit of the spider is slightly optimized, but there are no cardinal differences from the coupe.

As for the interior of the new model, there is much more carbon fiber inside. Plus, the developers installed lightweight seats in the cab and simplified the finish.

Due to this set of measures, the coupe specifically has a dry weight of 1,560 kg, and the spider — 1,660 kg. In both cases, the design has become lighter by 10 kg.

In terms of technology, the Ferrari SF90 XX 2024 generally repeats the serial SF90, although the hybrid power plant put to it still has some features.

In particular, Italian engineers have slightly modified the 4.0-liter V8 engine with two turbines installed within the wheelbase.

He received new pistons, additionally polished channels of the intake and exhaust systems, as well as an increased compression ratio.

Engine output increased to 797 hp. (+ 17) and 804 Nm (+ 4). And he began to sound a little «angrier». To do this, he was supplied with new resonators and a different path configuration.

The total output of electric motors (there are three of those in the supercar: two in front and one in the back) has increased to 233 forces (+ 13). As a result, the hybrid plant is now capable of generating up to 1,030 mares (+30).

And the SF90 XX also promises to be more responsive and dynamic on the track: it has been revised settings of all units, including an eight-speed dual-clutch robot.

So, in the qualification mode, the electronics use the traction battery to the fullest, without saving its charge and giving out maximum power. By the way, the traction battery here has a capacity of 7.9 kWh and in civilian use it should be enough for 25 km of electric traction (with front-wheel drive).

The supercar also had improved brakes. At the front, the Italians have achieved their more efficient cooling, and at the back they have installed larger disks. Plus there are new friction linings.

Regardless of body type, the SF90 XX accelerates from zero to hundreds in 2.3 seconds (-0.2). Acceleration from 0-200 km / h in the coupe is possible in 6.5 seconds (-0.2), and in the spider — in 6.7 seconds (-0.3).

But the maximum speed of new products from the XX division is lower than that of conventional ones (due to a more aggressive body kit): their limit is “only” 320 km / h (- 20).

The Italians will produce 799 SF90 XX Stradale coupes and 599 copies of the open SF90 XX Spider. Taking orders for extreme supercars has already started, but prices are not advertised.
